I have used coupling nuts (I think they’re also referred to as standoffs) to resolve a number of specific issues. I know they’re great for connecting threaded rods and these Everbilt 5/8” – 11 x 2 1/8” nuts are perfect for that. They’re well-made and spec out exactly as described. They’re singly packed in bright orange and well-labelled package. I’ve also used these as spacers to mount a rather substantial baffle to a ventilation inlet. There is one size that I use that perfectly matches the depth of the folds in my corrugated steel building. I attach the coupling nut to the bolts that hold the corrugated sections together. I then can hang items by attaching them to the coupling nut with a bolt and the bolt that holds the next section of corrugation together. These Everbilt coupling nuts are great and should last forever.

They are available in a variety of lengths and diameters to suit your project needs. I had several pieces of threaded rod that were not long enough for what I needed. With the coupling nut I was able to use the two rods I had at hand to make the length of rod I needed without having to buy an additional rod.
