A:  Should be able to take care not to tear screen or stretch it.

          by|May 6, 2023

A:  yes no pre drilled hole is required may be tough with hand strength

            by|May 6, 2023

A:  It works better with a drill and a Phillips head bit because you need some power behind the screw so the self-drilling feature works as it is supposed to. It helps eliminate the need to pre-drill holes. As to your drilling issues, practice makes perfect. Instead of giving up, work on it and get better!

These common hardware pieces did their job as expected. Could be cheaper maybe? Note: Self drilling screws should be used any time a pilot hole isn't going to be drilled into Wood, Particleboard, or Melamine. You'll have far more success this way, gett a tighter bond, and be less likely to "Strip" out the screwhole.

They penetrate most aluminum doors just fine but struggle to “bite” on other doors. I first thought that some aluminum was too hard for the self tapper to bite but they do fine on steel. Perhaps sone applications the aluminum is too soft and the screw gouges out a hole that the threads can’t grab on to. Sometimes, when they won’t bite, I can reverse my drill for a second and then, when I go back to forward, the screw bites. I install between 30 and 70 door sweeps every week for the past 8 years. Each sweeps uses 5 screws.
