Q:Does the black washer need to have the center cut out? The threaded part of the fill valve does not fit into the washer. Instructions would have been nice.

USE this if you are replacing a ballcock valve
had to confirm - instructions R mostly garbage. if you are replacing a ballcock valve in an older tank USE THIS. use common sense & older valve to help with install. READ other reviews 3X, especially the ones w/ pics. gasket has to be modded (the center cut out) or could try using the gasket off old valve. goes on the threaded stem & should be inside the tank. the small flat looking nut goes under tank (outside). fat nut is not required (its for water feed line). NUT on stem allows height adjust

If you're in need and in a pinch I would recommend this product to stop a running or leaking toilet, but I don't seeing this product lasting a very long time. The overall design is good and I love the ease of the adjustable arm, but the entire product is constructed of hollow plastic and the threads at the float ball could easily strip out. The flapper is a very thin plastic rubber that has no weight to it and will most likely leak in a very short time.

I can see improved design from older models. You can use this set as an alternative to replace an existing, broken or as a choice to first time install. Comes with all the parts needed for install. I use it to replace the broken valve I have. I like the plastic adjustable arm from I can set the amount of water to use on every flush, older models come out with a fixed metal arm. Another thing I like is the refill tube is more manageable and I’m sure is not going to get hard over the time. To adjust the height just need to unscrew the nut in the middle of the body and pull up the head, is better if done before installation. Even though is not stated in the instructions the rubber washer needs to be take apart from the small washer that has in the middle before install in the bottom of the valve, you can see it’s placement by the pictures provide. The rubber flapper makes a better seal with the discharge overflow.

The documentation for this product needs some modification. For someone who has installed a ballcock valve, the installer would have some intuition as to what to do when the documentation doesn't describe the steps. Step 6 of the instructions instruct the installer on how to adjust the ballcock height. I was never able to accomplish this but luckily don't think I needed to, The pictorial diagram didn't point out the locking collar. I know where I would have found it on other brands but didn't see it. I did have to adjust the float since the water level in the tank was too high. Step 9, Attach Refill Tube should have mentioned that the nylon clip that would be mounted to the refill tube in inserted backward (for shipping purposes I suppose). A newbie might think this is normal and might have left it as-is which would have created a water issue! Other than that, the valve works fine with little noise. I typically don't trust plumbing projects so will continue to monitor the water supply line and floor nearby for moisture for a week or so.

This is an old fashioned ballcock assembly. It has all of the standard parts, but the instructions are not as good as most kits. The diagrams don't show all of the parts which are referenced in the instructions, and some parts have no instructions at all. I had just installed a Fluidmaster on a different toilet and the instructions with that kit were very detailed, so the process was familiar to me, otherwise I would have had trouble. I wouldn't recommend this kit to anyone who hasn't done this in a while. The collar to adjust the height is in a bad place and difficult to loosen. The float valve is also hard to adjust. All that said, the valve is working fine. It flushes okay and it's not leaking. It is fairly loud when filling. I won't buy another like this. Next time I'll use one of the more modern valves, preferably one not made in China.

This traditional style mechanism doesn't fit in smaller size tanks. It was quite easy to install and I'm sure it would have worked well if it had actually fit. I ended up using a newer style flushing valve to accomplish the task of fixing my leaking toilet. The product seemed to have been constructed well. The instructions were clear and easy to understand

Ever built Ballcock repair kit. I have rebuilt many toilets in my day, and there is nothing more frustrating than a leaking toilet and a run to the hardware store to find that there are more that 1 size ballcocks in a toilet tank! I received this one and of course the ballcock was too small for my particular toilet. Not only that but my toilet tank had the NEW style where the float was around the water fill shaft A much simpler design. The appendage type float balls are to me old school and an added feature to adjust. And does anyone really adjust them properly? In a pinch this product would install rather quickly and fix any issues you had with the filler tube and shut off, but the kit would benefit a consumer by including All different sizes of ballcock options.

I recieved this product just in time to make a much needed repair to my water closet. Unfortunately, there were pieces missing from the kit, and the valve assembly did not fit into the area that I had in my holding tank. The package states it should take 20 minutes to complete the repair. Im not a professional but, after over an hour, then a trip to Home Depot, and another 45 minutes the repair was made. (With different parts). I will not say this product will not work for you but, it did not work for me.
