Made of 2-pine re-saw layers, the Surewood-LNL 48 in. x 11-1/2 in. Unfinished Pine Tread is applied to a radiate pine, edge glued core. For interior use only, our pine tread features a clean, uniform look that is clear of most knots and imperfections commonly found in solid pine treads. The core is stable and resistant to warping, checking and cupping and is perfect for use in carpet-grade, stain or painted tread applications. It has a 1 in. thickness and is sold unfinished, allowing you to finish it to match other stair parts or decor. It will fit stairs up to 48 in. in width and accommodates tread runs up to 11-1/2 in. Stain Retardant
Treads looked great until I stained them. I even walked the sanding up to 220 and conditioned the wood with pre-stain. Still didn’t stop the wood from blotching horribly and unnaturally. I believe because they are veneer this happened. Very disappointing after all my hard work. Rather have gotten real wood.

Yea, this is a stair tread but also good for building an office chair mat. Have a ever bought one of those flimsy plastic chair mats where you stretch it out, roll your chair on to it and find that the wheels sink into the mat where they do not roll properly? Well, the mat is not strong enough to hold your weight and the weight of the chair. Buy three of these 48" X 12" lengths. Cut one rounded edge off to make the board square on both sides and use this one as the center board in your mat. Lay the three boards on their backs and screw small metal straps at the creases after a small amount of wood glue (between the boards) to hold the three boards together. Use the small cut off rounded edge for matching molding on the front of your mat. If 48" is too long cut the pieces to size before assembling. Walla! You have a nice thick $200.00 wood floor mat "that works" for only $35.00. Construction time is 30 minutes.

Wow Hap, we've heard of our treads being used for tables, shelving, air-conditioner pads, serving trays, and a whole host of other non-stair related items. But we've heard of our treads being used as an office chair mat. Well done! You're quite creative and we applaud your thinking outside the box.

Rebuilt stairs
Have been doing major renovations on my home. Pulled up carpet on stairs to the basement and noticed existing stairs were contractor stairs that needed to be replaced. Used these stair treads and the finished product turned out great.

These are great for use as shelves inside cabinets. Just drill holes in the sides of the cabinet for hiding the L brackets. Good price to have a finished, rounded edge and thicker than 3/4" plywood.
