In the specifications, why does length show 12 in. (inches)? I assume the web page is incorrect and the length is actually 12 ft (feet). Please clarify the length.

You can use a number of construction adhesives and a caulking gun. A small bead of adhesive on one edge of the molding and put in place. Wipe off any excess immediatley.

Can this molding be painted? And would it need to be primed or sand papered for paint to adhere? Thank you

        Answer This Question

From the guide: If you do paint Finished Elegance, remember the paint can only dry from the outside in due to the coating. Therefore the dry time is significantly longer. Full cure could take as long as 30 days. I'm not risking it. I'll leave it white.

        By|Jul 19, 2022

Yes, it can be painted, although the white color looks really clean. One caution is too keep it from getting wet. As it is fiberboard, it will swell and separate.

It seems to be wrapped in a white glossy finish....you definitely need to paint the cut ends & I would think it would need 2+ coats if you wanted to paint the length of the moulding.

Is this OK to be installed in a bathroom, was unable to find a nice PVC version of this. I like the look, concerned with the humidity and MDF material.

                        Answer This Question

Yes...you can install this in a bathroom. If installed properly, you should not experience any difficulties with this moulding. Also, because the humidity in a bathroom is usually (but not always) a short term, temporary condition, the impact on the moulding should be minimal.

Yes you can but use a semi gloss paint or a kitchen and bath paint designed for humidity,

                        By|Mar 15, 2019

Temporary humidity shouldn't be a problem if the bathroom is ventilated. However, standing water would be an issue. I hope this helps!

I sealed it with kitchen and bathroom caulk and it’s held up pretty well so far. I put it in about 2 years ago. We’ve got some in the kitchen too near a dog water dish, so that gets wet pretty often and again, no problems. The finish holds up on its own, but I would say sealing the joints is the only way to make it last.

Medium density fiber board....from what I've seen on YouTube it is a product comparable to plywood strength.

Primed white and you paint it gray

This is only available with a white finish. There is this moulding available either raw or primed so you can finish it with the color desired.

This moulding is high quality, easy to cut, lightweight, easy to work with when installing. The white prime color matched my existing baseboard, so there was no need to paint, which was an added bonus. I selected these over quarter rounds because these look more professional. Very happy with the purchase and will stick with this brand for future moulding projects.

This prefinished base molding works great for finishing out a floating floor. I chose to use it instead of removing the baseboards when I put in laminate flooring in my guest bedroom. It took about 50’ for my 10’x11’ room with a large closet. It’s pretty flexible too, so you can bend it into places you couldn’t normally get a piece of wood trim. Case in point - I had to fit it in the closet and contort around the shelves. I had the longest piece almost bent in a “U” without breaking! My local Home Depot stocks the molding in 16’ lengths that you can cut in store so you don’t have a bunch of excess. If you’re only doing one room, my advice is plan rough lengths before you go and pre-cut them in store to manageable lengths (with overestimations!) prior to purchasing. I did so and ended up with only a 3” and an 11” section of waste. Seven 8’ sections were much easier to haul in the bed of my truck instead of several 16’ lengths! The prefinished option really saves a lot of painting time. The only spots I had to paint were the exposed cut ends where the trim met the door frames. Those took one coat each - almost no effort at all. The color matches perfectly with DAP Dynaflex 230 caulk, which I used to seal the molding to the baseboards and fill the nail holes. I didn't have any problems with 18 gauge nails splitting the trim. I tested a short piece with 15 gauge, and it did split. Most likely just because it was a 3" scrap. The one section I had between the door and the wall was only two inches long, and the 18 gauge nail went in fine without splitting it.
