Can it be used as insulation 2x4 exterior wall?

Answer This Question

The Froth-Pak™ Foam System is a Class A Fire-Rated product up to 2" of cure foam thickness. If the cured foam exceeds 2" the product is no longer Class A, at this point it requires more protection from fire in addition to being covered with a 15-minute thermal barrier (drywall). DuPont doesn't have R-value data for thicknesses above 2".

Can this be used to inject with drywall already hung?

    Answer This Question

Hello Foaming, We advise against injecting Froth-Pak™ products behind drywall that is already installed, as it is classified as closed cell foam and may cause the drywall to crack during expansion

Can I use this to insulate underneath my 3 season room. It’s basically a wood plank deck encased with windows and want to spray the underside of the deck. No gaps on the decking. Would it provide a reduction in draft? Is there a temperature range for App?

How do I dispose of tanks that were mixed off-ratio, thus resulting in leftover Part B in the tank? My county's Hazard Waste center said they do not take two part foam kits.

Can I spray between ceiling joints in a crawl space?
            ByNov 6, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hello Kevin, yes and depending on how the crawl space is used, will determine if an ignition barrier is needed. If the crawl space is just used for utilities and no storage and also vented properly, the ignition barrier is not needed. If the crawl space will be used for storage, an ignition barrier would be required. As always, before starting any project, consult your local building department as they have the final say.

                Zero expansion!
I purchased two Frothpak 200 kits from Home Depot to insulate and seal the block walls of my crawlspace. Read and followed all of the instructions….respirator, tyvek k suit, gloves, shook the canisters, ensured the tank and wall temperatures were within the range specified, test spray before installing nozzle, full trigger squeeze, 12” from wall, etc. Product appeared to go on correctly at 1/2” wet thickness, but didn’t expand beyond that. I spent over $840 on the two kits, one of which I had to exchange at Home Depot due to a problem with the threads on the tank valve….Overall I’m very disappointed with this product and would not recommend it. Contacted DuPont customer service and the claims department rejected my claim because I am not a “Certified” spray foam installer. If the homeowner can’t apply the product, why is it available to the general public?

                  It was ok
The verdict is in! Spray foam cons: Expensive Super sloppy Lots of prep, anything you don't want product on, cover. Half face respirator and full PPE required. Doesn't go real far, I got about 150 board feet. I probably would have gotten further with more experience with it. The product didn't stay consistent when spraying. The foam would set up on the nozzle and I kept having to clean it off. Spray foam pros: Seals everything air tight. Aside from prep it sprayed on very quickly. It only took 30 to 40 minutes to spray the whole kit. No measuring, cutting or stapling tight spots. It set up quickly. Overall, I don't think I will use it again.

                    Would recommend for smallish projects
I used these kits to insulate my 12x10 shed. If you read the directions thoroughly prior to using, and follow them as you spray, you’ll have great results. I learned quickly how to apply in the right thickness. The fan nozzles do tend to clog quickly and start to dribble, but they include 4 so you can easily change for a new one. Even spraying the inside of the roof it adheres well and does not drip. It dried quickly and is now super hard and has made a big difference inside my shed. Make sure to get a Tyvek suit, goggles and a respirator. After dry, the foam scrapes up easily off the floor if you don’t get it covered before.

                      Not worth $450!!!
I have 2 Cape Cod style houses and did one basement sill plate and cove with the canned foam (Great Stuff 3in) and one with this Froth Pack. The basements are roughly 40x40 feet. I used the Froth Pack yesterday and it did 3 out of the 4 walls of the basement of one house. I followed directions off of their website's youtube videos, which showed gentle mixing of the tanks. But the first and last 8 bays I sprayed came out horrible. Most of the product "disappeared" into a whispy-thin goo or came out very thin and uneven and later formed pockets. The product expands minimally compared to the 3in cans. It also drips everywhere off the tip of the gun which made a mess. Toward the end of the tank the foam was pouring out the sides of the gun as well. And trust me, I followed every direction. I have yet to finish the other house where I am going to keep using the cans of Great Stuff because it expands better and can control exactly where I am spraying it better. I also hope to make less of a mess as the basement floor has been painted already. The rough estimate after doing one wall was $400 worth of the Great Stuff cans to do the whole basement - which is why I opted for the Froth Pack for the 2nd house. I'll have to get back to you on total cost for each house. (Plus the Froth Pack didn't even finish the other house, so I'll have to buy cans for that too!) Also, you have to by a organic filter mask ($20-$40) to apply the Froth Pack, so take that into consideration too. Anecdote: I wore safety glass but whatever aerosol was in the air interacted with my contacts and ruined them as well.

I used this product to seal a 6' x 8'. I thought that one kit would suffice to cover with one layer of foam but the blue tank ran out early and had to buy another kit. When the blue tank is out early it will spray a gooey liquid that does not dry. In my opinion it is not a cost effective solution.

                            Not for beginners!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first it seemed really overwhelming for me because I've never used a spray foam before in quite this large of a quantity but with my father's help we were able to completely fill up the crawl space underneath the bathroom area of our house which has a stone floor and it's always really cold in the morning and we've had trouble with the pipes freezing in the washer area and the bathtub but after spraying this down there we've had absolutely no more of the trouble of freezing pipes or even the floor being ice cold I would definitely definitely definitely recommend for anyone who needs to insulate any area of their home for sure.

                              Works great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am thankful to receive the froth-pak 210 insulation spray foam kit to test as incentive for my honest opinion. I was not able to use this at this time as it is freezing at 8 degrees and not appropriate. However after talking to my dad who has used this before he would recommend it and would use it again. Feels that it’s easy enough for anyone to use as long as you follow the directions!
