All I can say is the 5 ft length of 3/4 in pipe certainly has some "give" to it and would sag and would need support in the middle. 1 inch would need support too I would think.
Inside diameter is "3/4" inch but actually measures 0.8". Outside diameter measures 1.05".
At the very least you would want to use 1-1/4" Size. Please note that the longer the PVC pipe segment the less stable it is. So a 1-foot length would be much more stable than say a 2-foot length. Please keep this in mind when designing your rack.
