My partner and I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment (approx. 900 sq ft) and purchased this unit for our open-plan living/dining/kitchen/entry and another 5,000 btu Frigidaire unit for our bedroom a few months ago. Both are working well, but we've been especially happy with this larger unit - temps outside have been 90-100 degrees with 70%+ humidity for the past week and our apartment has remained very comfortable. Straightforward installation, quick cooling, and the timer and economy functions are working perfectly. It's not silent, but I didn't expect it to be. Like all other units, the faster you run the fan, the more noise you can expect. It is quieter than most other a/c units I've encountered, though.
The only drawback is that the temperature gauge on the remote never matches the temperature set on the unit itself. For ex, we'll set the unit to keep the temperature at 73 degrees, but when the unit turns itself off because it believes the correct temperature has been reached, we'll find the remote measures the temperature as being 82 degrees. We don't have a room thermometer, so who knows? However, this is only a concern if you need your area to be a very specific temperature (in which case, buy a separate room thermometer). We just need to feel comfortable, so the exact numerical temperature of the room is meaningless to us. It would be nice if every feature worked perfectly, but it's not worth taking an entire star off in my view, so 5 stars from me.
