Hi Dawn! Thank you for checking with us. Yes. You need a trim kit. It secures the microwave in the cabinet and provides necessary airflow. It also gives your setup a finished look. We hope this answers your question. - Patrick
Hi Deborah, thank you for your question. Replacing your Frigidaire Gallery 19.3 cu ft built-in unit with the Frigidaire Professional PMBD3081BF is not guaranteed to be a direct swap, as compatibility depends on your cabinet cutout dimensions and trim kit system rather than the model names alone. The Professional model may have different installation requirements, including trim kit design, cabinet opening size, and ventilation spacing, which often are not interchangeable with Gallery series setups. Because of this, even small differences in height, width, or depth can prevent proper installation without modifications or a new trim kit. It’s best to verify your current cabinet measurements and existing installation setup before proceeding to ensure a proper fit. — Reed
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the Frigidaire Professional 30" Built-In Convection Microwave Oven with Air Fry. This unit uses a standard 120V / 20-amp plug and is not hardwired. While it is designed to be built into cabinetry, it requires a dedicated electrical outlet, typically located inside the cabinet behind or above the microwave. Some confusion may arise because the outlet is hidden during installation, but the appliance itself comes with a power cord for plug-in connection. No direct hardwiring is necessary. - Jessica
Thank you for reaching out, Matt. Yes — the +30 sec and +10 sec buttons on the Frigidaire PMBD3081BF do act as quick-start time-adding features during cooking, but they aren’t exactly the same as the old single-button “one-touch start” that some older microwaves had. ~Ruth
Hi there, Jansc. No, this microwave is not designed for under-counter installation; it's intended for wall cabinet or above-range built-in setups. We hope this information helps. - Maria
Thank you for reaching out, Billy. The microwave Frigidaire PMBD3081BF has a product weight of 93 lbs. ~Ruth
Thank you for your question regarding the Professional 1.6 cu. ft. Electric 30" Built-In Convection Microwave Oven (model PMBD3081BF) in Stainless Steel with Air Fry. For this model, the power cord is not pre-installed or included in the package. The PMBD3081BF is designed for built-in installation and must be hardwired directly to a dedicated 120V, 60Hz, 20 amp electrical circuit. It does not come with a standard plug for direct connection to an outlet. We strongly recommend that installation be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local codes and the installation manual to ensure safety and proper operation. - Jessica
We received this product yesterday and Jessica's response is incorrect. It DOES come with a cord to be plugged into a 20 amp circuit. see pic (Too bad for us that we only have 15 amp and it will cost $700-$1100 for our electrician to change it out)
The unit cut out width is not over 29" as the other answer mentions. This is incorrect. Your width is fine, according to the cut out requirements. Your height is a little tall, though, and that would need a filler strip.
Given your existing width of 28½″ and the unit width of ~29.8″, I strongly recommend widening the opening or adding filler/trim pieces. That will yield the best aesthetic result and help ensure the installation looks clean and built‐in rather than “shoved in.” If your cabinetry finish is easy to match, the filler strips approach can be a cost‐effective alternative. - Jessica
According to Frigidaire's website, the up-and-down cutout should be 17.75 inches. As are all their other combo microwaves.
