After researching ways to hook up my portable generator to my home this product was by far the easiest way of disconnecting my utility service and allowing me to hook up my generator. No need for rewiring the electrical panel's or moving circuits around. Install, then turn on only needed circuits your generator will support. Easy to install with 3-gauge copper wire for 100 amps, add generator hook up socket, then your good for next power outage.

Home Depot had the best price for this product and it works great.
So i installed a new 30kw genset and just wanted a less expensive correct way to switch power to the house. This did the job and was easy to install and worked perfectly.

We live in South Texas and have our share of hurricanes. In addition, the Texas power grid has not been winterized as recommended in a previous study over ten years. This failure by our state government led to massive power outages throughout the state during the Texas freeze in March of 2021. Hundreds of Texans died because they were unable to keep themselves warm. The Texas freeze was a horrible experience one I hope never to experience again. For these reasons my wife and I decided to install a manual transfer switch with a generator plug.
The 100 amp transfer switch works exactly as it was designed. I did not want to spend a substantial amount of money for an automatic transfer switch which can easily reach a couple of thousand of dollars. I spent less than three hundred dollars on the hardware and all I need to do is plug in the generator and pull the lever to the down position. My only regret, was that I used a 30 amp plug and will probably switch it to a 50 amp plug should I decide to buy a bigger generator. We have a small home, and had already purchased a 6500 Kilowatt (Running rating) 30 amp plug connector. However, electrician, made sure to use the proper gauged wire in order to accommodate a 50 amp plug in the future.
The installation took approximately three hours. I strongly encourage everyone to make sure all permits from the city are obtained and verified. You should also make sure if inspections by the city and the power company will be necessary prior to the re-connection of main power-line. Document who you spoke to regarding post inspections. We encountered issues with post installation inspections and had no electricity for two days.

I have this on my 5th wheel between a breaker box and a 13k generator. Works great. Wife has no issue with power at any time.
Made labels for the direction of the handle on the box. RV can ONLY be powered by one or the other. NO BACK FEED into power grid no harm workers on power lines. I HAVE recommended this to friends many times... AND STILL DO

It's a transfer switch, nothing fancy just a 100 Amp manual transfer switch. The housing is solid and is a good size so there is plenty of room for the wiring.

This transfer switch is WAY too big. It weighs a ton and is huge, while being filled mostly with empty air inside. Home Depot was great to work with when ordering and shipping this device, but the device itself looks like it was designed in the 1940's and has not been revised since.
