Sticks out too far
We have a 15" depth cabinet above our stove without outside ventilation. Was very upset to learn that GE no longer made a front venting microwave (mw) when ours went out as all our other appliances are GE. So...we ordered the bump out kit which took almost a month to arrive. Tonight we installed it, and I'm not pleased at all. The mw sticks out 3" past our cabinets. That's 2" of metal on the top of the mw and 1" of the venting. I would have been better off adding pieces of sheetrock or wood behind the mw bracket that came with the mw, building it out 2", then having it protruding 3" in front of the cabinets. I may still, but also not crazy about adding even more holes to the above cabinet. Please bring back at least 1 model in front venting mw, this has been a needless headache!

GE 30 in. Cabinet OTR Bump Out Kit in Black was pricey but very strong. The frame was firm and held the microwave secure. It was easy to install and it appears to be able to be reused if you have to replace the microwave in the future. The paint finish matched my GE microwave and was not a noticeable addition to the unit. I was worried the 3 inch bump out would be negatively noticeable. But after installing it I feel it didn’t hinder the appearance of the kitchen cabinets.

disappointed in GE…again
Having to sait two weeks and pay an additional $131 for a spacer template is ridiculous. I try to support American companies, but these tactics show a certain contempt for the customer. Why doesn’t Home depot carry these in store? They must sell hundreds.

how come you sell this but when come time to install it I'm told they install it they going to install micoweve without which micoweve would have vented under Cabinet they really needs some training

Extremely overpriced, very disappointed in GE. When you are already spending multiple hundreds of dollars on an appliance it should be expected to have SIMPLE mounting adapters available at a fair price. This is a piece of sheet metal that bumps 3 inches and is half the cost of a new microwave... No thanks, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Needed
The part was a necessity. We went with deeper cabinets in our new kitchen making over the range microwaves not fit without this part. The price was a little high and the $15 appliance delivery fee was ridiculous but because of the part we can use our microwave.
