Product Overview

The GE 50 Amp Double Pole Ground Fault Circuit Breaker with Self-Test has a tin plated copper stab to create a reliable, permanent and corrosion resistant connection. The Self-Test functionality is a UL requirement on all GFCI devices commencing in June 2015. This variant of the GFCI ensures its ground circuitry is functioning properly by automatically running diagnostic testing on a periodic basis. Should a problem be detected, the circuit breaker will trip and will need to be replaced.

Yes it will fit.

I'm curious - can this be wired with 10/2 for a 2-wire pump?

To a 240 volt pump that does not require a neural, absolutely yes and #10 wire is the correct size. Check with your local inspector to be sure that's acceptable to them. It's a lot easier to do it right the first time.

Will this replace a GE 2 pole 20 amp breaker (THQL-GFCI)? My current one is black with a red test...

See photos. The breaker that arrived looked nothing like the one in the picture associated with this question. See my attached photos. I replaced the old breaker on the left with the new one on the right. So if your old breaker looks like the one on the left, then the one on the right should work. I included a photo of the breaker with the packaging.

Will this fit into a non-ge standard electrical panel? The box is an Eaton Cutler Hammer.

No, I don't think so. I researched this issue and it seems like GE breakers only fit GE breaker boxes.

Can this be used with 6 awg wire? Specification indicates #8 max which seems inappropriate for many wire types @ 50A

Answer

Thank you for your question. The correct specification is 8 - 3 AWG. We will work to correct this and appreciate your notification.

I bought this breaker to replace the old breaker on my pool pump. The old one kept tripping as soon as it was turned on even with no load. Clearly it was a bad breaker. Anyway, this one fit and worked in the old box. See photos.
