A: The Genesis 7.5 Amp Hammer drill isn't intended for drilling through thick metal such as 2" metal. For thick metal, you may want to use either a drill press or magnetic drill due to the material thickness. The bit will also need oil lubrication to help with the metal on metal friction. It sort of sparked when first used and smelled a little like an electrical burn. That may be common for corded tools. But it drilled the holes in concrete with no problem. I'm happy with it so far.

don’t buy

I plugged the drill in and used. It started to smoke and getting hot. I stop my work, unplug it and let it sit for a short time. I later plugged it back in and now it won’t do anything.
