Can this be used to attach trim on metal stud or door jamb? Can it it self drill through metal?

Maybe, if you carefully pre drill the metal a with a drill diameter that's slightly smaller than the screw shank in might work. Plan it carefully and possible try a test run on some scrap material.

Okay good for exterior fiber cement

Answer

These screws are finish screws with small heads designed to almost vanish when countersunk. The screws recommended for cement siding products should be bugle head. Also, while these are coated to resist corrosion, they are not stainless or galvanized. I would recommend checking with the siding manufacturer for their preferred fastening products and vendors.

They do come in white. I have not seen silver looking ones, but the brass ones look silverish after installed and sun is shining in them.

Can these be used with the kreg deck jig system?

Asked by Matt June 13, 2020

Answer

I believe the trim head GRK Trim Head screws may not tighten well due to the narrow head, which would likely pull through. However, GRK does make screws with broader heads that may work. In short, if you can find the GRK screws with similar head diameter and length as compared to the Kreg screws it may work well. If you do this please let us know how it worked.

Can these be used with the kreg deck jig system?

The answer is that they should not be used with the Craig system because you need the wide head on the Craig screws to make sure your joints are tight. The smaller head on these finish screws will push on through your holes made with the Craig drill bit.

I don’t think these are the best choice, although they might hold. I use a cabinet installation screw with a larger head. Then if appropriate, a vinyl trim cap on the head of the screw.

What is the diameter of the head?

Just about 1/8" , possibly a "tad" less.

Great for stopping floor squeak under carpeting.
I had some annoying floor squeaks... I'd considered for years...how best to handle them. The thought of pulling the carpet and padding to screw down the flooring. The squeak stopper system (snap off heads) was interesting but I was afraid it wouldn't have been a permanent fix. These small torx heads are just what was needed. Worked great and ZERO stripped heads. (FYI if you intend to use these for this application...buy the longer torx driver bits GRK 2-pack)

Recommended for laminate flooring stair nose piece. Worked great and so far holding them solidly. Small heads leave small hole to fill easily with wood filling and Qtip to paint matching paint which hides small hose and works better than wood filler putty which doesn't harden.

The GRK Fastener worked very well. I used it to create my barn doors for my office. Easy to drive into wood and I experienced no slip in the drive. Looks nice, requires little covering and my family liked the rugged look. Once I stain it, it will disappear.

Now my preferred fastener
These will be my "Go To" screws on most of my projects from now on. I recently made a loveseat using pressure treated wood. For the seating area I secured it underneath with pocket screws. The support pieces also had pocket screws but I wasn't sure if that was going to be sufficient to support the weight of two large adults. I decided to use these GRK fasteners that I had tried before on another recent project. After completing the project I noticed that the holes were very tiny with very little tearing of the wood fibers. I feel that once the pressure treated wood drys out completely seasons in a few weeks that a light sanding will make the holes negligible. I'm impressed enough with these screws that when I make the matching sofa I am going to skip the pocket screws and use these screws to fasten the boards in the seating area. That will save me hours of time and still look great.

I like using these on oak trim because the piece can be removed if it didn't fit quite right. The hole left by these screws is slightly larger than finish a nail but I mix oak sawdust with wood putty to hide the hole.

They work great for putting cabinets together seamlessly. The head sink down in the side rail you barely see them. Very strong screws. You could actually putty over the holes the head sinks in and you would never know they were there. Very small head hole. Like 5/32 great product. Thx
