Q:Are they approved for use in pressure treated wood?
by|Mar 7, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  Hey Bob, you'd need to get confirmation from local code just to be sure but staples used in pressure treated wood need to be stainless steel. These do not meet those requirements, though we do have stainless steel staples in our Briscon staple line(SN40BSS25 and SN40IBSS20). Hope this helps!

Q:What staple guns can drive these?

    Answer This Question

A:  The staple gun these can drive is low-volt staple gun #MSG-301.

    by|Sep 25, 2019

A:  Hello and thank you for your question. These staples are unable to be used in a staple gun. Staple gun staples use an inline design, basically like an office stapler staples, and do not fasten using individual staples like our MSI-200JT. This style of staple is intended for hammering in. Our MPS-2125 is moreso used in a staple gun, MSG-501. This is a plastic staple, inline to use in a staple gun. Perfect staples for the old wood in my house, they are tough enough to be hammered into brittle wood without bending. The plastic strap is nice for protection as well. I use these with 12 and 14 gauge but they will work up to 10/3. These will rust if exposed to water.

Does what you'd expect. Packaging is good and they are very sharp, which makes it easy to start them, at least in soft woods. However they did seem prone to bending. I was using them in an awkward corner, so my swing definitely contributed, but they'd often be used in awkward spots. On a side note, I was looking for screw-down zip ties and couldn't find any, then I thought I could use these to anchor down regular zip ties and it worked great.

        Bend Easily
I tried to use the 1 1/2” x 1/2” staples with the red insulator because I needed to stack some cables. I’ve tried 7 of these so far with two different hammers and 2 different 2x4 studs…every single one bent out to the side when it was about 1/4” into the wood, rendering it useless and had to pull back out. Back to Home Depot to get something different.
