Can you use these with asphalt shingles in pressure treated plywood? Or will the washer cause the shingles to not sit flush?

      Answer This Question

This nail is best suited for metal roofing specifically. You are better off using the normal roofing nails for shingles.

How long will the neoprene last? Should this be covered with a dab of roofing sealant in case the neoprene gives out?

      Answer This Question

there is no proven timeframe, but the neoprene is known to last years and roofing sealant isn’t required but is good for added protection

I do not believe so. The nails I purchased came in a one pound box. These nails are used for Spanish ceramic roof tiles that are driven in one at a time.

Can these nails be used for vinyl siding without the rubber seal?

        Answer This Question

Greetings Bob, I do not see why you cannot use these nails on vinyl siding. I like them because of their rink shank. The 1-3/4 gives them plenty of bite. I use them to secure Jame Hardi Board to our home because of the high winds. I predrill every hole about two sizes under and remove the rubber seal before I install the nails. Hope this helps.

I assume these can never be removed once they're nailed in and you'd have to use a grinder to take off the top?

          Answer This Question

If the heads stay on they can be pulled out with a modified nail pulling bar and shim block but the problem is that the heads break off most of the new nails even while driving them in, let alone trying to pull them out.

Hello Chris, Well, you could use a cats claw to remove them. But once you nail them in, they are there for the duration. Hope this helps.

Yes, they can be removed just like any other nail.

This is an excellent product for hammering into the roof in order to attach zinc strip to prevent roof moss. I worked hard to clean that roof and the zinc strip is an important preventative measure so I will not have to repeat that cleaning for a while. I would recommend silicone bead on top of nail after hammering it in for further protection from leaks.
