Questions & Answers

WHAT IS THE MURIATIC ACID TO 23500 GALLONS WATER RATION FOR SAFE SWIMMING CONDITIONS

Asked by: JACKI
NEVER ADD ANY POOL CHEMICAL WITHOUT KNOWING YOUR POOL CHEMISTRY. You really need a decent test kit with an acid demand feature, like the Taylor 2005 or 2015. Check the PH, if it shows 8.0 (or higher), run the acid demand test and refer to the chart in the back of the book to see how much acid you need. Be aware that the Taylor kit is essentially a professional level test set and assumes you have access to commercial grade "full strength" (31+% HCL) Muriatic Acid. Note that this product is a consumer grade and around 14.5% so you will need to add a bit over twice what the Taylor Acid demand chart says.

When is it safe to swim after using this?

Asked by: 1LAC
As with adding any chemical to your hot tub or pool, you must wait long enough that the chemical is thoroughly mixed. For a typical pool with good pump and filtration, you should probably wait at least 2 hours before using the pool. Spas with very high turnover rates can be safe sooner. Looking into the water, if you see any yellowish areas in the water, the acid is NOT completely mixed with the water. You can use a skimmer net or bottom brush to stir the water, but even once you don't see any yellow areas, you should wait at least a half hour for the acid to fully mix. You shouldn't be going into the water until you've checked the PH to make sure you didn't overdose the pool.

Is the percentage of muriatic acid in this product suitable and strong enough for acid washing?

Is the percentage of muriatic acid in this product suitable and strong enough for acid washing?
Asked by: Wondering
We actually put it on neat using an old toothbrush in order to remove dried on brick mortar residue. Just be sure to use thick gloves and eye protection, long sleeves etc. Wash it down with water afterwards so that the absorbed acid can be diluted so it won't react with any finish you apply to the etched/acid washed finish. We put some pictures of our project in the review we submitted.

You dont stock this item in 2 different stores. You can not ship it to my zipcode that is midway between your two stores. Why the heck do you advertise something you dont ever stock and cannot ship? How does this help your customers?
Asked by: ram
Hi, It looks like this 1 Gal. Swimming Pool Muriatic Acid (2-Pack) is a store exclusive item and only able to be bought in a Home Depot store. Unfortunately we do not sell it with online stock for purchase. If you are unable to see the store inventory or price it is most likely either not a stocked item in your area or no longer available for purchase from Homedepot.com. I would advise you visit or contact your local Home Depot store for pricing and availability. Thanks for shopping Home Depot!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very weak acid (14.5%) I thought I would save money buying for the pool from Home Depot instead of the pool store. WRONG! Roughly the same cost as pool store but it's HALF the strength. Home Depot: $9.98 for 2 gal. at 14.5% acid. Leslies Pool: $9.99 for 2 gal. at 31% acid. ... same price, half the strength from Home Depot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Value This product is priced approximately the same as muriatic acid sold in pool supply stores, but the concentration is half. Because the price is approximately the same, and because the concentration is half, the price of this product is double compared to that purchased from pool supply stores.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Watered down version This is the watered down version.at 14.5% . Real pool acid is 31.45% . Big difference

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very weak Muriatic Acid This stuff will work however you will need to use twice the dosage. Most muriatic acid dosages are based on ~30% concentration of acid, this stuff is ~14%. It will work just be aware its very weak acid concentration.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weak Acid. Don't buy The acid is weak. Requires large volume to lower PH. I have used acid that was so strong that you cant hold it near your nose. Kemtek Muriatic acid, I can sniff it without smelling the odor. Manufacturer has watered down product for profit?

I'm new to maintaining my pool and didn't realize this until I went through over 4 gallons of this stuff. Find somewhere that sells 31.45% Muriatic acid. It is a much better value.
