WHAT IS THE MURIATIC ACID TO 23500 GALLONS WATER RATION FOR SAFE SWIMMING CONDITIONS

NEVER ADD ANY POOL CHEMICAL WITHOUT KNOWING YOUR POOL CHEMISTRY. You really need a decent test kit with an acid demand feature, like the Taylor 2005 or 2015. Check the PH, if it shows 8.0 (or higher), run the acid demand test and refer to the chart in the back of the book to see how much acid you need. Be aware that the Taylor kit is essentially a professional level test set and assumes you have access to commercial grade "full strength" (31+% HCL) Muriatic Acid. Note that this product is a consumer grade and around 14.5% so you will need to add a bit over twice what the Taylor Acid demand chart says.

Is the percentage of muriatic acid in this product suitable and strong enough for acid washing?

Hi, It looks like this 1 Gal. Swimming Pool Muriatic Acid (2-Pack) is a store exclusive item and only able to be bought in a Home Depot store. Unfortunately we do not sell it with online stock for purchase. If you are unable to see the store inventory or price it is most likely either not a stocked item in your area or no longer available for purchase from Homedepot.com. I would advise you visit or contact your local Home Depot store for pricing and availability. Thanks for shopping Home Depot!

Great for removing dried on mortar residue from brickwork. We already had a couple of gallons of this which we use for balancing the ph in our hot tub so we decided to give it a try to see if it could remove old, dried on grey mortar stains from some red bricks in our kitchen and it worked perfectly. My wife decided she wanted to whitewash a red brick wall behind our pot bellied stove however in order to get a consistent shade of white wash, we first had to deal with the grey colored, dried on brick mortar that had been there ever since the wall was built by a former owner of our home. After trying a wire brush in our angle grinder and deciding it (1) made too much dust and (2) left black streaks on the test area from the metal bristles, I decided to grab the acid from the garage to see if I could etch it off the bricks. I poured half a cup of the muriatic acid into a pyrex jug, grabbed an old toothbrush, some eye glasses and thick rubber gloves and gave it a try. By gently brushing the acid into the brick and letting it sit for a few minutes before repeating the process, we were able to get almost all the evidence of the mortar to disappear. In some areas we used one of Home Depot's wire brushes to get rid of the more stubborn mortar stains. It was a pretty time consuming process and took us a couple of hours to complete. Once it was finished, we washed the brickwork with clean water and let it dry overnight. The following day, my wife mixed up a whitewash with 50% interior latex paint/water mix and painted it onto the bricks with a low cost chip brush. Before the paint was dry, she stippled it with a damp dish washing sponge to get rid of the brush streaks and the end result was exactly what she was looking for to brighten the area in our kitchen around the pot bellied stove.

Hey, it's only pool acid. Not much to rate. It does what it is supposed to do; i.e. lower pH.
