Q:Are there any compatiblity issues between metals or can I screw both brass and black iron pipe into this manifold as long as they have the correct thread. Worried about electrolists or other strange reactions.

Answer This Question

A:  There are definitely electrolysis risks using dissimilar metals in gas systems, particularly in humid climates. What?s outside the pipe matters just as much as what?s inside it. This is a stainless product; CSST is stainless; should be no problem.

A:  Hi, Dave - We've not heard of any issues using dis-similar metals. Natural gas is very much a dry vapor that wouldn't create any electrolysis. Liquid propane could be a bit "wetter" but, again, he have no evidence of any strange reactions occurring between the SS of the manifold, black iron, galvanized, or copper pipe.

A:  Home Flex doesn't have that format. The only 3/4" ports are on the 1" manifold.

Horrible horrible. Failed catastrophically. The welds are inadequate. The material is substandard. It literally "flexed" under pressure as seen in the photo.

Hi Bill, Thank you for your input, but we would really appreciate some additional information in order to understand why you are so dissatisfied. This manifold is for use in our fuel gas piping system and not water. It is not approved for use with water. Unlike water, fuel gas piping systems operate at very low pressure. This manifold is rated for a maximum operating pressure of 25 psig. How exactly did you attempt to use it? How much pressure did you put in it? If possible, please give me a call (661) 257-3923 I am here from 8-5 Pacific Time M-F. Ask for Jon ValenciaPipe

buy the pipe fittings you need and bypass this product
This product is made with poor quality Korean steel, and the threads in this manifold have such poor tolerances that cause issues during installation. The brand home Flex is ideally suited for this product. When you get it home it will flex. If this product would not have failed during installation it could have saved me some time and money. I purchased this to simplify installation. I should have known better. It turned out the1/2 inch ports where the fittings and pipes I needed did not thread well into this part. Some fittings would only start one or two threads before needing a wrench to continue. This should have been my first clue. I finally attached the required valves I needed and plugged the extra holes. During installation I threaded the manifold in the gas line and during the installation of the final pipe on the far side of the manifold the main shaft of the manifold twisted. This issue was caused by the user, but if the manifold wasn't made of light gauge steel a normal level of torque wouldn't have twisted the steel main shaft. Currently the main shaft is twisted and I wont bother trying to return it due to my error. I just would like to warn any one looking to save a few minutes and a few dollars to just buy the pipe fittings you need and assemble them yourself.

              Hi Malwarebane
I am sorry that you are not satisfied with our Home-Flex CSST manifold. It is constructed of 304 stainless steel tubing and was designed to compliment our line of Home-Flex CSST. Our system is intended to save weight over conventional Iron and galvanized pipe. The female pipe thread fittings on the ends of the run have flats on them, so they can be gripped with a wrench. Doing this eliminates twisting the main body. The outlets are manufactured to industry standards for female pipe thread. There are several possibilities that may have prevented your fittings from properly threading into our manifold. Such possibilities include using the wrong size/type fitting, damaged threads on the manifold or fitting, or the use of too much thread sealing tape on the fittings. I would like to have had the opportunity to hear more about your particular installation in order to provide some technical assistance. If there is anything that I can do assist you, please give me a call (661) 257-3923. I am here M-F from 8-5 PM Pacific time. Ask for Jon ValenciaPipe

Now available online - you're welcome
I determined I needed a 1 inch manifold. It is shown in the Home-Flex instructions as available. The problem was ordering something not available online without a sku. I first contacted the factory to verify it was available. Then contacted my local Home Depot plumbing Manager who contacted Home-Flex for the sku. It took 10 days but it was worth the wait - the final install looks great and is completely leak free. A few days later it shows up online for all. It's a well built unit. I used reducers to connect three 1/2 inch lines - only the furnace needed a 3/4 inch line.

Couldn't find leaks, until I realized it's this
Buttoned everything up and tried to pressure test to 10 psi. My system wouldn't even get up to 1 psi. No obvious leaks at any of my joints. Thought it was my pressure gauge so went and bought a new one. Then I read about the bad welds and pour manufacturing of this junk online. Found that my manifold is leaking from the weld as well. Don't waste your money on this, get the cast iron one or make one yourself from T's and close nipples.

Not a real ridged manifold. Seemed weak at the joints. Did not use it. Made a black iron manifold instead.

                  Welds cracked. Very weak
When assembling this the welds had cracked on the manifold. This thing is useless have your money!
