I had a similar need. My scenario is that I have a gas line with 1/2 ball valve that was run for a gas grill. I want to extend that line about 15 foot so part of it would be underground and part of it above ground and IPS seems to be the best option where i don't have to do conduit and boxes etc to keep it out of the elements. I was going to use the riser to transition from above ground to below ground but i'm not about to use 3/4" pipe when there is a significant cost difference. As someone else on here stated, why do you sell the 1/2" pipe and couplings but not the riser? Still trying to determine the best solution for my issue, any reasonable advice is appreciated.
A minimum of 6" of the riser must be above grade.
Yes, But if this slab is in a home then you must bring the riser up on the outside of the home and then go into the home with black iron pipe and can transition into CSST line. Gas riser are not for internal use and CSST are not for external home use. Every state has different codes.
Yes, specially near your house, you’ll come out your house rim Joyce then have your shut off valve outside then connect this riser, run plastic underground then pop up out of the ground with a plastic to steel transition, for like a fire pit, or another riser if you were going to another building.
I want to thank everyone for the answers. I know that the inspector has the final say, however with all offices shut down due to Covid-19 I have had my permit under review for 3 weeks now. Before if you had a question you could call them, now you have to know the inspector's specific email address. Because I work in a casino here in Las Vegas I have time to complete these kinds of projects. By the time I get an answer I'll probably be back at work with a lot less time to complete projects.
Exactly as pictured---you'll need to buy couplers separately.
You need a coupler since it is not included
No - it comes primed and painted (gray) and ready to install.
For 75ft a 3/4" pipe will deliver approx. 128000 BTU which more than enough for your project
Yes you can install it in that manner following your local plumbing code.
