0.67 sq. ft. Basswood Tongue and Groove Wainscot Paneling

A little pricey, but a nice product.

I ordered five of these and one came with a ding right in the middle. I needed these partially because I ordered two 8ft kits and two planks were unusable due to damage and partly because I didn't order enough to begin with (I didn't want to order a 3rd kit if I could magically stretch the 16ft to fill 17ft). I finally ordered five planks, an eight foot chair rail and 8ft floor molding to complete the two foot long wall near the bathroom door.

Very pleased with Quality product.

I was impressed with this product. I ordered 47 pieces of the 32" cut length. I'm not a pro, but the millwork looked great to me. The boards were very straight and the tongues and grooves were consistent. It didn't take much "wiggling" to slide together during installation. Only one edge in my box of 125 LF (the back side of one groove) had a bit of a split that left the piece unsupported for around 8", but ultimately that didn't matter at all. Nailing was easy with 18 ga brads. The pieces required a thorough wiping and vacuuming before finishing - the bead pattern must have helped carry a lot of dust from the factory. No big deal. The tight grain was attractive and made for a very clean look, with only an occasional natural streak. The surface was almost ready for stain right from the box. (I would not have bothered filling the grain as I might for oak. That's important because grain filling around a beaded pattern could be a real chore.) We ultimately decided to paint rather than stain, but that choice was not driven by the wood. We just decided on a solid color for our kitchen island instead. Very light sanding before and after the first coat was all I did, and the finish looks great. Natural variations in color are unavoidable. You might consider getting the longer length and cutting yourself if you intend to stain your wainscoting. This would ensure a number of consistent pieces that could be varied with others during installation to improve the overall look. I'm not sure how the individual 32" boards were packed from the factory's longer stock, but it was pretty easy to grab a couple lighter tone boards and then a random slightly darker one out of the box. Just something to watch if you want the most uniform appearance possible. I'm being pretty picky on this point just for full disclosure; it was very good overall and I'm sure I would have been happy staining it.

Very nice quality pieces for a great price. I ordered extra and ended up with only a few unusable pieces due to knots or damage that I returned. The wood was a little softer than i expected.

I ordered this product twice, once as part of a kit with top and base moldings and a second time just the bead board. The first batch of bead board was perfectly clear, not a knot anywhere. I would give that batch five stars. The second batch had small knots about a half inch in diameter. I don't know if the knots will bleed through the paint or stay covered. If I order it again I will check to see if there is a way to specify clear boards only. .
