What length brad nail do you suggest to secure to the wall?

Can this be used as chair rail molding over 3/16 beadboard panel. The beadboard kits that include panels are a little shorter than I need, and I'm looking at cutting down an 8" panel. Several of these are available in 3/16 inch. Nee compatible mouldings.

How do you install this? I am trying to not see any brad nails. Using this to cover the nails when we installed the wall paneling.
Hello Nicdav, thank you for your inquiry. For the most secure application we do strongly recommend installing with brad nails. To conceal nail holes wood filler can be used. A secondary option would be to install using an adhesive product. We do recommend speaking with a representative at your local Home Depot about their adhesive options for your project. Thank you.
