Hello Bee - We appreciate your interest in the air conditioner HWR08XCR and we are happy to help! This unit uses "evaporative cooling." Condensation from the cooling process and rain water is splashed onto the hot condenser with a slinger ring. This helps cool the condenser and evaporate accumulated water. This eliminates the need for a drain. This model has a Dehumidify mode; the dehumidification capacity is 2.1 (pts./hr.). Thanks for checking! Olga

2 rooms cool
Very easy to put together and install in window,cooled my downstairs in 2 hours (about 342 Sq. feet) to 72°

We have had one of these for a few years. It has proved to be effective and reliable.

Very loud
It is very very loud. I set up as 72 degree. But it never can make the temperature, so it keeps on working and makes noise. The low mode is like train, medium is like aircraft launching, the high mode is like ambulance comes to your house.
