Hello, thank you for the question. Our 60 Amp Non-Fusible Metallic AC Disconnect is a double pole disconnect, meaning it handles two live (L1 and L2) lines. It is rated for 240V single phase. Our ACD is designed to work with one or two power wires.

How does this product meet UL (Underwriter Labs) code? The deadfront barrier can be removed without a tool exposing people to voltages exceeding what is considered safe. Is the box certified and if so, to what standard and by what laboratory?

We have one of these connected to a 100 amp breaker through 5 feet of #8 TW then to a subpanel also through #8 TW. The subpanel has a 20 and two 15 amp breakers. Is there a chance of overloading the wire between the subpanel and the HNF60R?
              ByApr 21, 2024
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Yes. Your 100A breaker won't trip until the current gets to 100A. So, your #8 TW could experience 100A even though it is rated at only 40A. Further, this box is only rated at 60A, so again, it should be fed by nothing that can exceed 60A.

How to remove inner plate to wire the disconnect?
                ByMar 28, 2024
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

The inner plate of the disconnect can be removed by loosening the screws located on the sides or corners of the enclosure. Once the screws are removed, the plate can be carefully pulled out, giving you access to the wiring compartment. Refer to the provided instructions manual for specific diagrams and steps for your model.

The disconnect insert did not provide a connection when installed in the "on" position. It looks like a manufactures defect.

This is a great little disconnect box. I use from 50-80 of these each year. It is a simple conversion to build this disconnect box into several types of landscape transformers for AC and for DC lighting.

The plastic conductor cover plate that creates a barrier between the energized conductors and the person operating the disconnect seems a bit flimsy and doesn’t have a secure attachment. Other than that disconnect seems to be good quality and will serve its purpose.
