Easy to stain and nice sturdy quality
I had pre pandemic red oak wall plates in my entire house. Fast forward, post pandemic couldn’t get this style for a 3 gang multi combo change. I ordered it, was hesitant of a match, BUT it was so easy to stain and looks no different than the ones I purchased 3 yrs ago, that were already stained. Takes stain well, evenly, and a light urethane coat fixed it right up to even match the sheen of my others.

Absolute garbage. It didn’t fit over switches so we had to carve away some wood and sand it down...
Absolute garbage. It didn’t fit over switches so we had to carve away some wood and sand it down. And THEN the holes didn’t line up so when trying to screw into place it cracked in two places!

I used these so I could paint them to match with my kitchen cabinets. That worked out well and the price was very good. However, there was a lot of sanding I needed to do prior - due to rough edges and splinters sticking out.

This Amerelle 180CX unfinished Alder wood coaxial wall plate looks really good. A couple of things stand out to me. One is that it is reinforced on the back with a metal plate to make it strong and prevent damage from overtightening of the screws. Two is the wood itself is solid with no cracks and looks like it will hold up well. The coaxial adapter locks in easily to the plastic plate. I'm very pleased with its quality and looks.
