I'm not a electrician, but I have hired one to wire a mobile home. The blue wing-nut wire connectors have a wing that makes it easy to connect the wing nut and wires together. provides a easy grip for twisting the connector on. I love the information on the packaging which allows me to see which wires I can use this for. I'm there helping and watching the process of re-wiring and the information allows me to purchase the right supplies and learn how to wire. These wing wire nut connectors can use a minimum of 3- #12 wires ( 12 is residential (house) Max.of wires; 1-#6 with 2--#8 , which is used for appliances like stoves, dryers, etc.- 3 prong plugs.

This review is for a 25 pack of Ideal 454 blue wing nut wire connectors. These connectors are fairly large and the specifications state they can handle a minimum of three 12 gauge wires and a maximum of one 6 gauge wires or two 8 gauge wires. These connectors are a “wing nut” design which makes them easy to turn and gives you extra torque when turning them. The specifications also state that these connectors can handle up to 600 volts. There’s not much else I could say about these connectors but they seem to be a quality product and I’d recommend them for your electrical connections.

These are a large wirecap for making splices or connections. These are not for light use- such as attaching a light fixture. They are for big splices These will hold three 12 gauge wires or four 14 gauge wires, and quite a few other combinations. They hold tight and keep all of the conductive parts of the wire up inside where it needs to be and safe from shorting in the box.

I have used Ideal products for many years. These Blue Wing-Nut Wire Connectors will work well for some work, but they’re a bit big for most household jobs. I have some upcoming projects that will call for 8 gauge wire, though I shouldn’t need to make any wire to wire connections. However, they could be used for connecting multiple 10 or 12 gauge wires as well. When working with something requiring this size connector, the wings make it much easier to get a good, tight connection. Like other Ideal connectors, they will get the job done easily. My only complaint is the plastic bag. The zip works OK, but still a hassle to get them out. A correctly sized plastic jar, or even a cardboard box would be much better. My old standby peanut butter jars are just too big for these.

I have been using these Ideal wirenuts for years and just love them but with this new package make it so much easier to carry in my tool bag rather that loose and all over the bottom of the bag. Is just perfect for three number twelve or more and up to three number eight or two number eight and one number six and now they are easy to find, now would like to see for other sizes more maybe just the bag with a box of wirenuts so I can keep for service work rather than carry in pouch like I do when doing new construction
