Is this safe to kill grass in a large bleeding heart plant? Pat C.

It is more like a heavy duty weed and grass preventer.

Do all the new tiny weeds have to be pulled before you apply?

Asked by: fox
Because we always have a good dose of rain over the year in the Northwest, we encounter what seems like countless weeds. What I have experienced is that this product is more of an pre-emergent, keeping new weeks from taking root. I generally go over my entire yard with a blade hoe and loosen the soil so that any weeds (even the small ones) become detached from the root. I then cover the soil with the Casoron and have not had a return of weeds - even the small ones. I am by no means an expert but have grown up gardening and have learned what works for me.

Can you sprinkle this on your garden area before planting, to keep weeds down?

Asked by: Magoo
I have never personally added it to the soil 'before' planting. Once I have either planed my seeds or established plants, I will then sprinkle the Casoron around the plants and surrounding area. I focus more on adding fertilizer into the soil base rather than mixing the Casoron with it. The surface application should be sufficient.

I live in WA state when is the best time to apply this? Is it too late now that it's October?
Asked by: Tiffany
I usually just use it in the spring, but I had so many weeds coming up in October, I went ahead with weeding and applying it then. I am hoping this will control weeds until Spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pre-emergent It does it's job to keep anything from emerging for three-six months. Will kill grass too. Great for gravel driveways. Keep it off the grass unless you want to kill the grass. Won't kill existing weeds. Best applied about Jan-Feb about a month before your temps hit about 60.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Casoron Granules I have been using Casoron granules for over 10 years! I own a home in Oregon and one here in Kansas but unfortunately I have never been able to find the product here in Kansas. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring this product to Kansas. I obviously cannot transport this back and forth across country but I need it here. I am an avid gardener and this is the only product I have ever used that will eliminate new weeds for the entire year. I feel once you have done the initial Spring clean up, you want to be able to enjoy your yard without having to repeat the process of weed clean up again. So worth the money!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product-keeps weeds away After I weeded my planting beds, I hand sprinkled the Casoron granules throughout my planting beds...no harm to my shrubs at all. Love it! Used this also in WA state for the past nine years and it kept the weeds away for 1/2 a year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for getting rid of Chrysanthemum weed I read somewhere that Casoron Granules are effective in getting rid of Chrysanthemum weed so I tried it. After initially pulling the weeds I turned over the soil and then sprinkled the granules and watered. I waited a week or so to see if any growth appeared, nothing came up. I coved the soil with a fabric weed inhibitor and then wood chipped the top. I'm hoping to be done with the annoying always growing Chrysanthemum weed for a while at least.

My mother has about half an acre, half of which is covered in rock and DG. The last two years I have spent hours and hours pulling weeds.I gave this a try and it worked! I spread it on the ground early March. There are hardly any weeds this year. There are a few in spots where I may have missed. For the most part no weeds! I will use this every year! Worth the money and very little effort for no weeds!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Weeding! It has been an ongoing battle to keep the weeds down in the flower borders around the house. I used Casoron Granules for the first time last year, and used them again this spring. These granules keep the weeds away, and eliminate weeding throughout the growing season. The weeds didn't come back at all under the bushes from last year's application. What a work saver.
