Q:Does the shut off valve always stay open for hole or only when you used the hose sprayer then shut off
by|Apr 11, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  The shut-off valve opens when you use the sprayer, water would go through the hose, and shut off when not used, the water would be leaded to another hose to your toilet tank. If you connected the sprayer with a separate water supplier, just keep it open.

            Not as expected
I originally acquired this product to use as a Bidet, but it is not what I expected. It is more like a kitchen sink sprayer. I can see that it can be used to rinse off diapers and other messy things into the toilet, but not for what I expected. Also, when assembling it, I did get several weeks and had to reassemble the connections twice. I follow the directions clearly each time, but finally had to put a double layer of Teflon tape at the connection with the handle.

A sleek, well made handheld bidet that may or may not work for you
I like this handheld sprayer bidet. It is well made with solid feeling parts and smooth valves that give a feeling of quality. If you've used a regular bidet before, this style might be a little more of a challenge. As much as I like this unit, my family felt it was a little more awkward to use than they were used to, and I have to agree. You can imagine that there are some extra contortions and positioning relative to other bidet designs. However, the spray is gentle and well treated to feel nice on delicate parts and it sprays well enough to do its job. One benefit of this design is that you can aim the spray more than standard seat mounted styles. I did have a problem installing the diverter, however. It was long enough (though nicely and solidly made) that it interfered with my water inlet valve and pinched the beaded inlet line which eventually caused a small leak to appear. I don't know if this is a standard positioning issue or if my old bathroom just has things closer together than normal. Regardless, I had to pull everything apart to replace the inlet line, and we, as a family, are still deciding whether I should put the Inster handheld bidet sprayer back on.

Simple install and a great finish!
This install was fairly easy. As soon as you open the package, you see a few parts and pieces that are needed. When doing the install, make sure to use some type of soft jaws so you do not damage the finish. You basically turn the water off first! Remove the inlet hose to the tank, install the valve, install the water inlet hose onto the valve, install the hose and sprayer, then turn the water back on.

            Handy and easy to install
We are a bidet-using family, and have used multiple types. I have found that each has its place and its purpose. In my bathroom, I use an electric full-seat bidet with seat heater, warm water, and a blow dryer. My wife's bathroom has a cold-water non-electric bidet because there is no power nearby. Our son has one with hot and cold water lines, but is far enough from the water heater that it only works well if you do something else to bring the hot water nearby first. I've installed this one in the laundry room. Besides its primary purpose of washing your backside, which I'll get to in a moment, it also is extremely handy for rinsing out clothes that are heading to the washer. Oh how I wish we had this when our kids were in cloth diapers! The stream is good and strong, so it works great for that purpose. Installation was very easy - it took me about 10 minutes and the only tool needed was a spanner wrench, which was barely needed. Turn off the water, detach the supply line, insert the valve, re-attach the supply line, attach the bidet hose and the sprayer. The only reason it took 10 minutes was that one of the screws to attach the sprayer holder to the tank hook was slightly too short and I had to drill out the hole in the holder to allow it to reach. Testing the spray made me a little nervous - the spray is strong and I was concerned it would not feel great against sensitive skin. However, that spray is broken up into enough smaller streams (or maybe it's aerated?) that it did not sting but still had good power. The only downside, as compared to our other bidets, is that you do need to reach your hand down there and the sprayer and your hand tend to get wet. It's only water, and you are washing your hands anyway, but it's a surprise when you're used to built-in bidets. And the flexibility to use this for other cleaning tasks makes it worth it. One final note about a feature I like - having a shut-off valve in the diverter. When grandkids are using that bathroom I plan to turn it off to prevent problems, but also if maintenance is ever needed I don't need to turn off water to the entire toilet as I do with the others. That will be very helpful in the future!

            Works for what is made
Almost five stars. The sprayer works as expected but there are two things that made to only four stars. First, the mounting bracket one of the screws is too short even after switching with the other screw is still too short. The second thing is the sprayer only has one pattern. Unlike our other sprayer has two patterns for high flow (spray stream) and low flow (solid stream). Otherwise it works for what is made.

            Better way to get clean
I am a big fan bidet sprayers. I got the INSTER Non-Electric Stainless Steel Handheld Handle Bidet Sprayer, Toilet Bidet Attachment in Stainless Steel. These are so easy to install. Just shut off water to toilet, remove large water line nut from bottom of toilet tank, attach the supplied Tee fitting where the water line was removed. The valved side of the Tee, perpendicular to the tank water attachment, gets the supplied stainless flex hose attached to it. The last attachment is the water supply line that was removed from the bottom of the toilet tank. The kit comes with the sprayer tank holder assembled, simply lift the tank lid and put the hanger on the tank. Attach the sprayer to the flex hose and the installation is ready to have the water turned back on. The kit comes with clear instructions. The valve on the Tee can be used to turn on and off the water to the sprayer or throttle the flow if the pressure seems too strong. The components of the kit seem very well made and durable. This is absolutely a better way to clean after using the toilet. Saves on toilet paper too!

            Works great!
I really love this product! I discovered them when I traveled throughout Asia. They are really great at cleaning your bottom. The cost is extremely good compared to the more expensive options. They are also great at using to clean the toilet. The kit comes with everything you need. Installation takes 30 minutes or less! Product works exceptionally well and I highly recommend it.

Multi-purpose sprayer, but not so good as a bidet
This hose is not suitable to be used as a bidet because it would be too difficult to use to wash your rear and even the front it would be too messy. The leaflet that's included suggests multi-purpose uses, such as toilet cleaner, watering flowers, baby shower, pet shower, washing the floor, washing the car, and bidet for personal hygiene.  The illustration shows an unrealistic way to use it as a bidet because this sprayer wouldn't be possible to use as the illustration shows (see photo I uploaded).  The attachment holder that comes with it is not designed for an US toilet, it leaves the lid with a gap so you'd need to install this on the wall.  I would not recommend it as a bidet since there are other designs that work better for this purpose and cost around the same and are more hygienic.

            Nice bidet sprayer.
Review for the INSTER Non-Electric Stainless Steel Handheld Handle Bidet Sprayer Toilet Bidet Attachment in Stainless Steel. I really like bidet sprayers. All of our toilets have them. They save a lot of toilet paper which can be in short supply in these trying economic times. This one will replace the one in our 2nd bathroom that doesn't have positive shutoff. I never liked it for that reason. It has since failed in the ON position which can cause flooding so needs replaced. The tank hanger bracket also can be wall mounted. Screws for wall mounting are included. Even a small roll of plumbing tape was included. The INSTER bidet sprayer has a positive shutoff, a great feature, so 5 stars.
