Utilizing patented technology, the SureTest circuit analyzers "look behind walls" to identify wiring problems that can lead to personal shock hazards, electrical fires or equipment performance issues. Personal shock hazards stem from poor grounding, false grounds and/or no ground fault protection. Electrical fires are primarily caused from arc faults and high resistance points that lead to glowing connections in the circuit wiring. And, equipment performance issues arise due to insufficient voltage available under load, poor ground impedance and high ground-to-neutral voltage. In fact, it's estimated that 80% of power quality performance issues are related to the faulty wiring issues stated above.
Measures voltage drop under load 12 Amp, 15 Amp, 20 Amp load tests
Hot and neutral conductor impedances
Estimates load on line (ELL) up to 15 Amp
Tests GFCIs and EPDs for proper operation
Ground to neutral voltage
Identifies proper wiring in 3-wire receptacles
Identifies false (bootleg) grounds
Conducts testing without disturbing sensitive loads

I'll start the review by stating that I'm not an electrician or electrical engineer, and that fact makes this tester that much better for me. This little gem makes testing and troubleshooting much better than guessing what's wrong. I have a new house, it's passed inspection but I've had a few nagging problems.
This tester provides a ton of detailed information useful for diagnosing problems. It's also great if you're in the trades and you're having "weird" or intermittent problems. This tester will not only test if the outlet is wired correctly, it will also let you know if someone has done shoddy repairs, like trying to install three pong outlets with old two conductor wiring. The cheap plug in circuit testers will show the outlet is wired correctly if they slyly tied the ground into the neutral, but this tester will show that it's really a false ground.
This will also show actual voltage, peak voltage, frequency, it will apply a load on the circuit and tell you the voltage drop, it will test the impedance of the wires and test your GFCI. This tester can help you figure out if the wire is sized correctly, if you have a bad connection or outlet and potentially where.
This tester is not a cheapo circuit tester, it won't fix the problem for you be it provides a ton of information to help you figure out where your problem is hiding.
About my only complaints are that it only comes with a 3 prong connection. At this price it would be nice to include the alligator clip leads to test switch and fixture wiring easily, and a button to test GFCI devices but no button to test the newer AFCI devices.

Good review I will pass along your comments about adding tripping AFCI breakers to the product people. Ron at email@example.com

A must have for any home inspector. Was easily able to identify false grounds in an older home that had been flipped.

Elevated good to hear from you. The Analyzer is much better at telling you how good the electrical connections are in a building. Much better than a cheaper receptacle tester which will give you the polarity of a circuit but not much else. We sell quite a few of them. Ron at firstname.lastname@example.org

Hi AJ DFW we have not heard of that issue unless you try to check the impedance of the ground. Can you reach out to me we will try to help you? Thanks Ron at email@example.com

Hey Sparky the SureTest can do a lot more than trip GFCI's you can you it to troubleshoot circuits as well. It can even read the conductors impedances. Have fun Ron at firstname.lastname@example.org

Another quality tester by IDEAL. I have been using IDEAL products every since I started doing electrical work many many years ago and I have never had any problems at all with them. It just does not pay to use anything other than quality products when doing electrical work. In the past I probably would not have recommended this tester to a homeowner due to the number of test functions that it preformes , but now with the online information available on how to use almost any testing device, I would recommend this tester to anyone with basic DIY skills that can follow video and audio instructions. A person with these basic skills will be able to trouble shoot almost any electrical problem that a homeowner is likely to encounter . But I strongly recommend that you seek professional help to correct any electrical issues you might detect.

William well said. The tester can detect many things about a circuit and some you will need an electrician to correct. Good review Ron at email@example.com
