Q:If using on curves, such as shower enclosures meeting the flooring, is it a safe bet to just use additional adhesive to avoid future problems? And if you're caulking already, why not dab a little behind this trim to help it stick?

A: InstaTrim is designed and tested to perform 100% for many years. The single biggest reason for failure is not properly cleaning the surface. Showers and bathtubs often times have old silicone that must be removed 100% for our adhesive to effectively bond with the shower surfaces. This requires using a product like acetone or isopropyl alcohol to remove the "silicone oils" that remain on the surface after cutting off the old silicone. Regards, Greg InstaTrim Products

I've seen a lot of reviews on here saying what a problem this is to install, and that it comes up within a few days/weeks. If the area is properly cleaned and prepped it installs perfectly. After grouting a couple of gaps left by someone else's poorly executed previous attempt, the whole area was wiped down with rubbing alcohol and allowed to dry. Quick measure, a quick cut and this product solved every issue that existed before. Not only did it make the corner where the tile meets the tub more watertight, it conforms to the grout lines and makes the whole look amazing. Can't imagine what a professional would have charged, but it looks professionally done.

Good idea needs further improvement.

Have a backsplash gap of < 3/8" (5/16") between the wall and BS. Removed caulk per instructions. Used both acetone and alcohol plus sanding to remove any trace of silicone caulk (as cautioned in instructions). Applied strip per instructions, looked really good - 24hrs later the adhesive began to un-bond from the wall. Now researching options of adhesive that WILL work or will probably wind up yanking it out and go a different direction. BE AWARE the product would probably work if the gap is < 1/4". The adhesive needs a BIG improvement. Home Depot needs to indicate that the roller recommended IS NOT available other than from the strip mfg. Be cautious and aware of your application..

Needs Perfect Corner

I was hoping to use this product to cover a 1/2" gap of morter someone had created between the tub and wall tile. Surface prep completed per instructions. Instatrim seemed to hold okay when applied. When I checked 24hrs later, the product had only partially stuck to the tub surface and easily fell off when touched. It then took 20min to get the "glue" off that was left behind, so I can try a different option. Side complaint: the recommended roller does not come with it, nor does HD sell it.

Our apologies your InstaTrim did not hold for you.
The 3/4" is designed to fill a gap of no more than 3/8" so it is likely that the gap of 1/2" was too big for the trim adhesive to fully bond with both surfaces.
We are hoping to have the applicator and all color bundles available soon on Home Depot.

Thank you for your belief that InstaTrim would of worked. The adhesive needs to be able to bond with both surfaces, therefore if the gap is too big it has nothing to adhere to.

Adhesive attached doesn't work and using glue works until the shape of the strip forces it to come undone due to being wrapped up in a circle within the box (the ends will push itself up once in place). Not buying again.

Hi, We are sorry you had a bad experience with your InstaTrim. We would always recommend laying the trim straight for a few hours before installation, as it is coiled in the package. This will help with it not wanting to retain its original shape.
Usually, the adhesive works very well, once bonded with both surfaces, but a little bit of glue on the ends can be used for extra adhesion if required.
