There is Ca prop 65 warning on this Siberian Glossy tile. Should we be concerned about emission of VOCs and other chemical residues evaporating, once this glass tile is installed and grouted on the shower wall? Is the finished product safe?
    ByApr 6, 2022
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

There is no need for concern with the finished product. The prop 65 warning applies to the cutting, grinding, etc. of the tile. This is where the health concern comes into affect. When cut or ground, tiles can expose you to airborne particles of respirable size which are known to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

How do people that use this tile for their shower walls drill the glass doors into it without it shattering? My contractor said that he is unable to put my shower doors on because the tile could shatter. Any tips or tricks would be super helpful.

Glass drill bit. Try that one at the smallest then go bigger

      By|Mar 6, 2022

use a glass drill bit, use lots of water and do not force the issue. take your time and let the drill bit do its job. Try a piece that isn't installed first to get the hang of it.

So how do you start, finish, and go around lightswitches and outlets with the tile? Is there square pieces to fit into the square spots that aren't going to be interlocked together be 2 pieces of tile? Like when you start do you have to cut the first hanging tiles off to get a straight line or is there the square tiles to add there?

                    Answer This Question

i used this in a bathroom and my installer used metal corner strips at the outward facing corner. It was was treated like other tile in the inward corners and around light switches and outlets. Be sure you have a blade for cutting glass. Our guy used a normal blade and we ended up having to have it fixed by someone with experience with glass tile due to all of the chipping the regular blade caused.

It’s beautiful! It really woke up my kitchen. Glass is always difficult to work with and the tiles are small so they take a lot of grout. Worth the effort!

                      Beautiful tiles
We love the look of the turquois tiles in our kitchen. They enhance the styling we were looking for and contrast beautifully with the countertops and the cabinets. As others have mentioned, there is uneven spacing between the tiles on the mesh backing. Our contractor struggled with them, so I docked one star. On the positive side, we bought three cases and did not have a problem with consistency in the color. They were also packed well before shipping and there were no broken pieces.

                        Terrible mesh alignment
Cheaper now but was $13 at the time. We had to buy from several Home Depots so I expected variation, but most of it was pretty bad. My photos will say it all. Be prepared to use spacers as if laying at 1 tile at a time. Pleased with the end result, but almost tore the 1st row off the next day after realizing what I was in for. DIYers note, cutting glass tile requires a special blade, takes significantly longer and cut edges need to be Stone ground by hand if revealed.

                              Show stopper!
We got the turquoise color and boy do I LOVE IT! Everyone comments about how gorgeous the color is. I was really worried that it would be too bold when I saw it online, but I was wrong. It is perfect! We had someone else install it, so I can’t speak to that. However, I didn’t hear any swear words come out of their mouths when they were installing it so it couldn’t be that bad! It is gorgeous with our white cabinets and white sparkly countertops. Highly recommend!

                                  lovely glass tile
I used this tile for our backsplash, it was a nice way to add color but keep the kitchen neutral at the same time. this was my first time job, and overall very successful. hardest areas were where I needed u cuts around window sills I could never quite get them on glass. but I was able to cut very thin slivers when needed. I used a Mapei glass mosaic tile mortar, and used a premixed Mapei acrylic l grout Flexcolor. overall it took longer than I expected but I'm super happy with the results.
