A:  I do not believe so. It is designed to slightly compress a plastic line in order to seal, and it does a good job—no leaking. It is also designed to release the plastic line if necessary. But copper isn’t likely to seal and may not be held in place by the gripping “teeth” of the fitting.

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello, John Guest model # 803449 is suitable for connecting to a braided stainless steel refrigerator water line but we recommend checking the thread type for compatibility. This valve has NPT threads and braided lines typically have compression threads. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

A:  That's what I did but it took an adaptor.

              by|Apr 21, 2021

A:  The stainless water line is commonly Compression and not pipe thread. Check with the lines manufacturer to confirm thread type and size. You may need an additional adapter such as https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-4-in-OD-Compression-x-1-4-in-FIP-Brass-Adapter-Fitting-801189/207176825 to adapt the pipe thread to compression.
