That is an error that we are having corrected. Model 7101 does not come with a removable handle. Model 7101 has an external bleed screw with removable metering pin, to simplify cleaning and maintenance and allows for manual operation.

Answer

The Intermatic T8805P101C timer has a 120-volt output, the K-Rain Pro Series 150 1 ½” Valve has a 24-volt solenoid. To make the timer and valve compatible the 24-volt solenoid on the Pro Series 150 valve would need to be changed to a 115-volt solenoid. K-Rain does not make a 115-volt solenoid however here is a link to a FIMCO brand 115-volt solenoid sold on Home Depot.com that will fit on the K-Rain Pro Series 150 valve > https://www.homedepot.com/p/FIMCO-115-Volt-Replacement-Irrigation-Solenoid-9171/202531462 NOTE: When installing a high voltage 115-volt solenoid on a valve it is necessary to install the wiring connecting the solenoid to the timer in conduit.

Answer

The handle on top the valve is a flow control that when turned all the way clockwise allows for full flow through the valve, as the flow control handle is turned counter clockwise the flow and pressure will be decreased until the flow control handle is turned all the way counter clockwise at which point the valve is manually turned Off and will Not Open when power is sent to the solenoid or the bleed screw on top the flow control handle is opened. The solenoid only has one moving part inside called the plunger, which is pulled up by the solenoids electro-magnet when power is sent to the solenoid, this can make a clicking noise. If the flow control is open and power (24 to 28-volts) is being sent to the solenoid there is some other internal issue with the valve preventing it from opening.

The valve does not seem to be opening all the way. I’m only getting about half the flow from norm...

What is the size of the hole at the diaphragm? Is it a true 1"

Asked by Alan77 June 18, 2019

Answer

The area where the diaphragm seats in the valve has an inside diameter of 1” actual size. The inlet and outlet of the valve is 1” NPT (national pipe thread) which has a larger outside diameter than 1”. The maximum flow rate of the valve is 30 Gallons per Minute.

Well here you have a 1 inch screw in, in line automatic sprinkler valve. 24 volts. Not sure of the brand but it does have a large K Rain on it. I'm also not sure if the product I received is how a consumer would receive it. This came in a brown shipping box wrapped in some shipping paper. No instructions other then some electrical specs stamped on the controller solenoid. In comparison to a like model in a name brand they are similar in design shape etc. it has the typical one inch inlet and outlet with screw in adapters. 24 volt solenoid with two wires for low voltage input. Air bleed valve and a manual on lever attached to the bottom of the solenoid. The diaphragm cap is held down by several screws. After installing this into my gardens water main line it works fine with my controller and the manual lever. Install was straight forward no leaks etc. So here you go good performing product great price point. No frill packaging , if it doesn't come with basic instructions this might not be great for someone with little plumbing knowledge. With a 5 year warranty not sure after that can they be repaired or need to be replaced. It's been my experience with my landscaping crew that valves of this type in our California climate last about 10 years before minor issues appear. If your planning a system and looking for price point function here you go.

Good basic valve
I am reviewing the K-Rain Pro Series 150 1” In-line Valve. I got this valve to use on my home watering system. I use drip lines to water the plants around the house. This valve works well for that purpose. The valve has an arrow on the side of the valve body to indicate the direction of water flow. There is also a convenient bleed screw on the top of the valve chamber to get the air out of the system and manually open the valve. There are two water connections, the input, and output. Then two wires to connect it to power. I have a zone time so the wires connect to a short cable which then connects to my timer. The valve is powered with 24VAC, which is the output voltage of my timer. One tip when installing this or any plastic valve that uses pipe thread connections, be careful! Do NOT over tighten the fittings. The manufacturer says to hand tighten the fittings then use a wrench to turn one more revolution. They recommend the use of Teflon tape on the threads of the fittings. I am very pleased with this valve.

Great valve, works well. The problem is that it has little to no instructions other than use this needle as a bleeder during installation. So do I take it out? Do I run the water while i have it out...no other instructions. What is the turn valve thing at the top middle?
