About This Product

KAP-IT allows anyone to raise a sprinkler head from the top instead of from the bottom. By extending the stem of a standard riser, you have raised the height. The new snap on top protects the stem extension, while leaving all of manufacturer's original parts completely intact. KAP-IT keeps the rocks and debris normally introduced into the head when a sprinkler is unscrewed below ground. The snap on top is designed to still allow regular access to the inside of the head itself, by maintaining the ability to unscrew the top of the canister with the KAP-IT, even when more than one is stacked. Simple, Secure, Fast and Permanent jump up your nozzle with a KAP-IT.

Q:WHAT DO I DO IF THE RISER STICKS AFTER INSTALLATION AND TESTING WITH WATER?
by|Sep 20, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  If the KAP-IT riser sticks up when testing it means you have dirt or debris that has gotten between the sprinkler and the KAP-IT when you installed it. About 90% of the time this is the problem. This needs to be cleaned. THE FIX--What you need to do is flush the system while the sprinklers are on and running. To do that turn on the sprinklers and go out to the stuck sprinkler and push it down and up a few times to flush the system out. By pushing it down the water is forced up and through the stem which help remove any debris. Then turn it off and to see it go down while the system is off. Make sure that the Kap and riser are on the sprinkler head flush. If they are tilted or the stem is screwed on crooked it will cause the sprinkler to bind up.

Q:Can I use the 1" riser extension without the "cap"?
    by|Aug 15, 2023

    Answer This Question

A:  You can use only the riser if you need but we do not recommend it as the riser will not have the protection that the Kap offers when it goes up and down. But in situations where needed we have seen people use just the riser as it is already protruding up and down through the soil. Good luck and thanks for using KAP-IT

A:  Of hand I'm going to say probably not. It has been a year or two since I installed 4-6 of these and I believe I am correct on that. I will say for sure that for what ever reason when I started using the in ground sprinkler system again this summer one of the places I had used these was between the sidewalk and the street which has a rise in the center due to plants that I had to remove two of the items either due to the riding lawn mower catching part of them or some other problem other wise they work fine. (have not tried doing it without the cap and think it might cause problems with filling up with grass and dirt if not used).

      by|Aug 15, 2023

A:  I have used the extension without cap in a couple of locations because of the curb/tree root does not make it possible to use. If you do just keep in mind that extension may be subject to lawnmowers and/or someone stepping into hole where sprinkler head is located.

Q:Is this cap easy to remove in case I need to replace the sprinkler head internals?
          by|Jul 22, 2023
          1 Answer
          Answer This Question

A:  The Kap-It can be removed if you need to replace the internals or take it a part. How to do that. You should be able to twist the Kap and it should twist the top of the sprinkler off of the body. If that is not what you want and you want to remove the Kap this is how. 1. take riser and stem off of sprinkler. 2. Pull up on Kap and at same time tilt to one side or the other the teeth should release off of the sprinkler. It will be tough as it is made to grip the sprinkler head and not come off really easy. Some people will lift and put a flat/common screw driver between the Kap and sprinkler then twist it to get the teeth to release.

Q:How do you aim the Kap It sprinkler head after installation?
            by|Mar 17, 2023

            Answer This Question

A:  Your original sprinkler head screws on top of kap it.

            by|Mar 21, 2023

A:  To adjust the nozzle after the Kap-it is installed you will ratchet the sprinkler clockwise to the start point on the nozzle. By doing that you are able to then adjust the sprinkler nozzle by opening it up to a larger pattern or shrinking it down to a smaller patter. With using the Kap-It you are able to twist the riser in the sprinkler by going clockwise you have the same capabilities as you would if there was NO Kap-It. Kap-It does not change the innerworkings of the sprinkler itself.

A:  Lap It slips over the head and doesn’t interfere with existing aim.

                by|Mar 18, 2023

A:  By twisting the Kap It extension tube, you twist the sprinkler body to which it is screwed. Twisting the sprinkler body is how you aim the sprinkler head.

                  by|Mar 20, 2023

A:  The Kap-It is just a device to allow to extend the height of the sprinkler head it doesn’t have anything to do with aiming it. Refer to the manufacturer of your sprinklers on how to aim. Usually you can manually rotate the riser pipe on most sprinklers.

                      Truley NO digging
This KAP-IT Pop-Up Sprinkler Riser Extension with (1.5" lift) Pop-Up Riser & Kap comes in a (2-pk) and is exactly what I needed for one of my sprinkler heads. Rather than having to dig up the sprinkler head, add an interior riser and fight the hole that fills with water making it a messy job, these risers are what they advertise, NO digging. Instructions are super easy to follow. It took me less than 5 minutes to complete the job. The threads on the extension tube make a tight secure fit on both ends. I haven’t tested it yet but have no doubt that it will perform as advertised. If anything changes, I will update this review.

Great Time Saving Easy to Install Sprinkler Riser Extension
My home was built in 1996 and had a sprinkler system installed when the house built. Well over the years some of the sprinkler units had settled/sunk in the ground and their risers no longer came up high enough to water their areas. They were just too low in the ground. Over the years I had raised the units as needed but it was a rather messy and time-consuming job to raise them. Had to dig up the head…disconnect it and install the appropriate height PVC extension pipe needed…then rebury the sprinkler. I saw the KAP-IT Risers and was impressed how easy they would be to install! The first one I did was so easy! Just pulled the sprinkler riser up…placed the base on the extended riser…then installed the 1 ½ riser extension…secured it and aligned the nozzle…AND was finished! No mess with digging up the sprinkler just took minutes to do…turned on my sprinklers and now that riser is high enough so the nozzle efficiently covers its area again! Quite pleased and will keep these handy to extend other low sprinkler units!

Easy Way To Raise Sprinkler Heads!
This product works great and is easy to install. It fits on my sprinkler head just as advertised. Installation time was about 15 minutes. I didn't have to do any digging to raise the sprinkler head back to level with the ground.

Lacks a swipe washer which may lead to failure
The product lacks the requisite swipe washer found on all sprinkler heads. The purpose of the swipe washer is to flush and clean the stem each time it rises and lowers. Without a swipe washer, soil can accumulate between the stem and cap impeding the stem's ability to rise and lower normally. This is particularly evident when one attempts to install the KAP-IT system on a submerged head where the KAP-IT is positioned below the turf level. Grit may soon accumulate between the stem and the cap and the stem may ultimately fail to rise and lower normally, thus exposing the stem to damage from turf cutting equipment. I manage a large HOA irrigation system with over 300 heads and approximately 30 zones. Many of our heads have become submerged over the years. This would have been a welcome solution. Perhaps KAP-IT can be redesigned to add a swipe washer.

Extend Sprinkler popping up with Kap-It
Make sure you hear the snap or click to make sure the Kap-It is on correctly. The top has to be clear of debris. When you put on a Kap-It is allows them to raise without digging. If they jam or stick flush them while they are running by pushing on the stem so that the water will flush any sand or debris out. They are easy to install and easy to flush. They have been in the ground for 5 years currently and have had no issues.

                            Time savers
To start off; I was very skeptical of these things working, or even snapping onto the sprinkler head as advertised. Well, I am no longer skeptical. I have a few sprinklers in my yard that were too deep and I really didn't want to dig them out, and increase the height of the pipe going to the sprinkler. These feature the fact that you don't have to dig, and for the most part you don't have to. I did have to dig to find my sprinkler head, but that takes like 2 minutes vs 15-30 for replacing pipes. To install these, you unscrew the sprinkler spray head, and then you screw on the new extension (I recommend screwing on 2 of them and removing one after lifting the post up so it's easier to attach the spray head again). Then you slide the cap over the center post snapping it on, and pull the post up, then you'll unscrew the second part and put the spray head back on. These snap on very tightly, and I'm not concerned about them. Overall, these saved me literally 1-2 hours of labor for just the 2 I installed so far. Love them.

Best for instant sprinkler height adjustment with No Digging!
Installed in a snap and works perfect. Many times you will need a bit more height. Most of us fear adding extentions, as in the past I have a plugged pipe, as soon as its dug, or worse, the dreaded "snap" of a broken underground fitting. Its misery. I re-sodded and found one head too deep. This fixed it. Pros: Everything. Instant snap on top. Fits most all pop ups, if not change out the top for a rain nerd. Brands are interchangeable. Cons: some brands top don't fit, nor do soft rubber types. Overall, no risk of breaking off a sprinkler to adjust it. Im sold.

Cool product to simplify raising sprinkler head
The KAP-IT riser for pop-up sprinklers simplifies the task of raising sprinkler heads without having to dig up the entire sprinkler head. Installation still requires digging out the top of the sprinkler but it is faster and seems to be less likely to get dirt in the line. The product seems to attach firmly and worked with my Rain Bird and Orbit flat top pop-up sprinklers. Made in America!

It only extends the head shaft
The important thing to remember about this product is that it adds 1.5 inches of height to a sprinkler head shaft if it overgrown by grass or covered with soil or mulch. It does not work if the sprinkler head or its shaft is damaged in any way, or if the shaft is stuck in its extended position. It’s useful for its intended purpose, but most of the time you’ll find yourself having to replace a damaged head rather than needing to extend the shaft. Price is another factor to consider. A 57 cent riser is a lot cheaper than this $10 product, but you’ll have to dig out the head. The choice is yours.
