What can we use to stick the drain cover down? Our contractor put it down without sticking it down using the “tape” so the sticky part won’t stick now. What can we use instead?

Hi Zeke, my name is Meli with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist with your question. Rubber suction cups should have been included with the drain cover to secure it in place. If we can assist with missing parts, please reach out to our customer care team at 800-456-4537. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

Is it recommended to paint this shower pan. If by any chance it has been painted, can we remove the paint.

I want a 60 X 60, or 50X 50 Two wall install unit. Two walls meaning, as you face the space, left wall is your water control, back wall, no wall on right. Also, want 30 on center. Again want 60X 60 or 50X50

It cracked after just a few months
I had my master bath remodeled by a professional who installed this shower pan. It looks great initially but I was shocked to see it cracked just after two months of normal use.

                  Multiple hairline fractures.
Purchased in 2020, installed in new home 2021, began actually using it January of 2022. Recently built our new home and added this particular shower base. It does look nice, and worked great. However, I recently identified multiple hairline fractures forming in various areas. Looked over the warranty information and quickly learned that this shower pan is no longer covered after one year of being installed. I will have to replace it, along with parts of shower walls. Not happy

                    Not Kohler Quality
We purchased this product and had it installed in July 2018. Two things people should know before considering this as a purchase. 1). The base is very slippery when wet, to the point that you can easily slip while showering. 2). The worst part of this product and something that makes it dangerous is the drain cover flips up when the corner is stepped on while showering. The design is terrible as the suction cups that hold the drain cover in place are not strong enough to keep it in place which is ridiculous because we are both small people. I can’t imagine how a heavy person would ever shower with this base. We have been working with Kohler for the past year trying to resolve the problem. It has been turned over to the engineering department, but no solution has been found.

I bought this shower pan for a complete bath reno. I had originally bought a Swan brand, but the drain location was blocked by a floor beam, so I bought this Archer model instead. The pan looks very style-ish, but it has some negative features. First, the profile is very low - no high front edge. Unless your shower doors are installed really low, you will get water on your bath floor. My doors were set the lowest point and water still splashed out. I ended up getting a molding that fit right over the shower door edge. It is white and it looks like part of the shower door. This did the trick. Second like other reviewers mentioned, the pan will squeak in some areas even though it was installed with mortar. I reinforced my wood floor with additional screws, which helped about 50%. I guess it is too thin. I weigh 150lbs., and I am the only one using this shower once a day. Third, the drain cover is a problem. Who knew? I should have read the reviews first. I bought this because I love Kohler products. Two of my baths are almost all outfitted with Kohler fixtures. The drain looks cool, but unless you remove the drain cover after each shower and dry it out with a towel, it will get funky and moldy and full of hair after about a week or so. I started removing the cover recently after each shower, and leaving it off to dry until next use. It is a pain, but it is a solution. We are on city water, not a well. The suction cups that hold the shower cover in place keep breaking off, even if you don’t take it off regularly. I first tried Gorilla glue to reattach the suction cups, but that only lasts a month or two. I then used clear epoxy. So far, so good. Another thing to know. Because this cover seals your drain pipe, the PVC pipe too gets really moldy and black, because it never dries. Drain cleaner is an answer. This drain thing is a maintenance issue. My old shower pan had no problems like this. It was a regular drain. Only drain cleaner was needed once and a while. IMPORTANT: I called Kohler recently about another issue, and I mention this drain problem. The customer service rep said that Kohler has re-designed the shower cover/hood. They put me on the list to receive a new re-designed cover - they are on back-order. So for me, the jury is still out on the drain thing. If they did a good re-design, maybe things will be better. This must be an issue for many people. Sorry for this long review, but better to know all the facts before buying & installing.

Hi Zmon, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear you aren't completely satisfied with your Archer shower base. We put a lot of thought into our products so it is disappointing to hear that we didn't meet your expectations. I'd like to start by sharing, this shower base intentionally features a low-threshold design for easy entry and exit. When taking the measurements into consideration during the installation of a showerdoor, you shouldn't run into an issue at the bottom of the door. The bottom track will sit on the threshold and the height at which you mount the showerdoor top track will be based on the height from the base, up. We appreciate you sharing your experience around using the shower drain. We would like to connect with you to learn more so that we can help! Please email our team at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com for additional assistance. It's important to us that you're able to use and enjoy your Kohler shower! -Sarah S. KOHLER Customer Service

Easy to install, requires a fairly large hole in subfloor so ensure you're not going to cut floor joists before installing. Also remember to shim out the gap between the shower base and concrete board. Looks great overall, appears to be a quality product.

                        Awesome shower floor
First off the only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because of the installation instructions. The ones listed on Kohler's website as well as Home Depot's website show cement board up to the flange, the included instructions want you to overlap the cement board and use flaring strips up the wall. A little confusion as to how to property install. I went with the included instructions. Overall its a great product, not slippery when wet, awesome look when installed and I LOVE the drain cover.
