        Answer This Question

This particular soil is formulated for flowers and vegetables, so it's not the best fit for lawns. For grass seed, we'd point you toward our Topper Soil for Lawns, Sod & Seed

A Fantastic Foundation for Living Soil
Kellogg Organic Garden Soil (KOGS) makes a fantastic foundation for whatever grow you have planned. Everything worth doing (like making your life more green) is worth doing some work to achieve and using KOGS properly is no different. *PROPER METHOD* Note: In the bags of KOGS i purchased i didn't find any large sticks just small manageable aeration adding wood fines but if you do find any large chunks of wood obviously remove those first before you follow the next steps. - If the KOGS is still warm in the middle of the bag then it still needs time to "cook" rake it out flat so that more surface area is exposed to air. Key Point: ONLY USE THE SOIL WHEN IT ISN'T WARM ANYMORE!! Plunge your fingers deep into the center of the mass and when it is cool to the touch it is good to go! Mix KOGS with around 20% of coarse perlite and about 30% of your native silt on a tarp. Native silt contains the essential minerals, mycelium and native organic life that will be the workers that break down the wood and other organic matter in the KOGS to turn your rhizome into a living biological engine! Buy a garden hose water filter like envig or green-gro to shatter chloramines from municipal tap water. If you skip buying a water hose filter then chloramines from your tap will kill your rhizosphere! Moisten your KOGS, perlite and native silt mixture to the consistency of a wrung-out sponge and let set over night and feel for any hot spots. When it feels cool your future will be green! **For cannabis growers**: Never let this soil mixture dry out in your pots! No Dry-Backs!, always keep the soil the consistency of a wrung-out sponge or the living engine will burn out. Treat this KOGS soil mixture as a living battery for your plants not as sterile media that you need to PH and EC like a madman, this KOGS soil mix is completely self-sustaining as long as you keep it moist!

Using Kelloggs fertilizer for my outdoor gardenias, plumeria, and succulent garden. Love that it is solidly compacted, does not have a strong odor, and goes a long way in planting!

I mix a third of this with a third of compost and a third of Pete Moss to put in my gardens as well as my greenhouse when I start plants in there.

I use this product as a mulch/compost combination. It is not what I would consider "garden soil" as something to plant your vegetable bed. It has a lot of tree fiber chunks and shredded fiber, not as much "soil" or dirt. However, it is GREAT for a top dressing and soil amendment. I use it as mulch to control weeds as it breaks down and nourishes and breaks down my clay soil. Absolutely great product for that! I used local delivery and he was awesome with this LARGE load! Much appreciated

We use it as a top mulch. It helps keep the weeds out, keeps water in the soil, and looks great!

In renovating the backyard I lost a lot of quality garden soil. I grabbed a few bags of Kellogg Garden Soil and was pleasantly surprised how quickly my plants started thriving with only kelp meal added and raked into the top. *Note: I would not recommend their raised bed bags though. I’m still combating nitrogen deficiency from their heavy wood mix 3 months later.
