This Kidde 10-Year Worry Free Carbon monoxide detector is easy to install and alerts your family when elevated carbon monoxide levels are detected in your home. Carbon monoxide alarms should be placed outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home. Additional CO alarms are recommended 5-20 ft from sources of CO such as a furnace, water heater, or fireplace. This alarm is powered by a 10-Year sealed-in, non-replaceable long life lithium battery. No hardwire installation required and no need to change the batteries over the 10-year life of the alarm. Simply replace the entire unit after 10 years. The digital display updates the current level of carbon monoxide every 15 seconds for additional piece of mind.
  • Carbon Monoxide detectors should be installed in a central location outside each sleeping area, on every level of the home, and in other locations where required by law
  • 10-year long life lithium battery is sealed into the alarm and cannot be removed, preventing unwanted tampering and ensuring your alarm is always on
  • No hardwire installation required
  • Smart hush feature temporarily silences nuisance alarms

    A:  Hello. No. That standard refers to CO2, Carbon Dioxide. This alarm measures Carbon Monoxide, CO1, created when a fuel source is burned but does not burn hot enough to burn the Co1 carbon MONoxide into CO2 carbon DIoxide. It is created in the smoke and exhaust of a fuel burning appliance such as one that burns coal, oil, natural gas, propane gas, and charcoal.

      A:  No. Our carbon monoxide alarms have to be kept between 40 and 100 degrees. They can not be used in outside areas or in garages, attics, or crawl spaces.

          10 year product sounding after 3 yrs
          I bought this three years ago. Woke us up middle of the night. No CO reading just noise. This is terrible to seek a safety product that is faulty. I was not due to replace until 4/2030. Will not buy again.

            defective, reading never changed despite being in CO filled room
            Installed a ventless heater in the garage, and was curious how much CO was generated when the garage was closed. It read 0 the entire time, never changed. I back my vehicle up into the garage, so when I start it in the mornings, I figured something was wrong because it never changed, yet CO fumes were definitely present in the garage. I borrowed one from work overnight to test my theory, and I was right. the $100 sensor immediately triggered the alarm, and the numbers seemed more reasonable. I thought maybe the Kidde monitor needs more time between readings, but no amount of time with sensors left in a closed garage after a vehicle ran inside it for a minute did the Kidde alarm update. The only good thing about this is the battery is good for 10 years, so you can watch the number stay at 0 regardless of actual CO presence.

            Hello ScottG,
            This carbon monoxide detector will detect 70 PPM in 60-240 minutes of sustained exposure. There are commercial and low level readers that will alarm at lower levels. Unsure of what you are comparing it to. These are residential units designed for conditions inside the home. It is not recommended for garages and other conditions.

The digit display shows none has been detected. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about battery replacement for ten years. I've installed them in three locations in our house.               my old old a/c plugin unit finally gave me an END signal , to buy a new one .. since i also have wired in hall ceiling units,, i always had one in the bedroom ,, ha worse place to get overcome ... so seeing this 2 pack was a no brainer for me to now not just put them where ever ,, like the bedroom and family room .. is so much more comforting to have more than one .. i also prefer to have the digital readout to know the level of CM where my ceiling units don't have ,, if this gas can kill you ,, i consider these things as cost is not an issue and definitely prefer more than one to rely on . .. Here's a tip for everyone ,, i use marker to write expire date on it ,, so you don't have to take it apart .. my unit was manufactured may 2018 , purchased april 2019 to last me to at least arpil 2029
