Are these in compliance w/ NFPA 720 and UL 2075? Is so, where is the reference? As I been required to obtain these. Thanks...

Answer This Question

Hello.NFPA 720 was withdrawn at the NFPA Annual 2018 revision cycle. NFPA 720 requirements have been incorporated into NFPA 72. The Council voted to approve the withdrawal of NFPA 720 on August 14, 2018. This alarm is NFPA 72 and UL 2034 compliant, though NOT UL 2035.

If the red light is on is it working?

    Answer This Question

Yes and there should be number zero

Typically, both CO and smoke alarms will display a GREEN light if the unit is "working". RED lights typically mean either that the alarm has been activated, or that there is an issue with the alarm. You should always save the pamphlet that comes with smoke alarms and with CO alarms. They contain information as to what both the color of the lights mean, and what their "flashing" sequence indicates. If you do not have the pamphlet from the unit, contact the manufacturer who will answer any questions you have, and may even replace the unit if it is not functioning properly.

When you say the red light is on, do you mean it is flashing every so often or that it is staying on constantly? Normally, the Green LED should flash every 30 seconds with a 0 or the current reading of carbon monoxide on the display. Please refer to the owner's manual under Operating and Alarm Characteristics and call us with the alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can help you figure out what the alarm is doing and get this resolved for you.

Can this be stuck to the wall without hardware? I can?t put any holes in my wall.

            Answer This Question

Hello. No. It is not designed to be stuck with adhesives. But it can be placed just on a table or a counter without installing it on the wall at all. We strongly recommend that if you have it on a counter or a table that it not be higher than 3 feet. It is rated and designed to usually survive a fall of 3 feet or less.

I didn't bother mounting them to walls, just placed them on furniture in areas I wanted covered where they are within easy reach if I need to check them or change the battery. You may be able to use tape such as duct tape but that may leave a mark or blemish on the wall.

If you want to attach it to a wall, you must use a screw. However, I have put my device on top of a tall cabinet in some cases in lieu of attaching to a wall.

how high off the floor needed for best readings

                  Answer This Question

Hello. Carbon monoxide is nearly the same weight as air and mixes very freely with the air and will follow the air flow of the house. Carbon monoxide can be read at any height. Eye level is very slightly better because it is very roughly the height at which people breathe and also makes it easier to read the display. Location in the house is more important. You will want at least one alarm per floor and every bedroom should have one alarm near enough to wake all of the occupants sleeping in the bedroom if the alarm goes off.

I have put them anywhere between 4 and 7 feet depending on where I am using them.

I don't know. Read the back of the package to see if it states this. If you don't have the package, do a Google search for this product.

Hello Dan, Thanks for reaching out. The unit will sound at 70 PPM after 2-4 hours of "sustained" exposure. the higher the PPM, the faster the unit sounds.

                                shows highest CO level recorded
I like this carbon monoxide detector because not only is it a regular CO detector, but it also shows the highest level of CO ever detected. It would be nice, though, if it could log the date and time of the maximum reading. The alarm sound is pretty ear-piercing, so I know I will hear it if it ever goes off.

                                  I feel much safer now
I was VERY concerned that the master bedroom`s connecting closet has the water heater in it, and the 2nd bedroom shares a wall with the furnace closet. Id wished heating appliances were located further away. So im happy they sold these CO monitors in a twin pack because i was able to place one in each bedroom & not be worried anymore. Came with batteries included and was easy to understand once i read the manual, pretty loud alarm & the green blinking light is not distracting. The heating appliances used to be in the basement but im now in a single level house so i cannot stress how important a carbon monoxide detector is -every household really should have a few.

                                    Seriously?
It's June 2022 and the allegedly "brand new" alarm I just purchased was manufactured more than 3 years ago. Also, there were NO instructions or a user manual included, and I can't find one online. Considering this was made in China, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I wish I hadn't bought this online, because I don't think it can be returned with the plastic package cut up. I'd advise buying a First Alert instead.

A great way to protect your family from deadly Carbon Monoxide gas. Use in any homes with utilities, fireplaces or appliances that could give off CO (Carbon Monoxide) gas. It would also be a good idea to have one even if you do not have any utilities or appliances that burn gas/oil or wood in your home but live in an apartment, condo or townhouse that may have an adjoining unit that may have this type of utility. I purchased these to replace an older unit in my home that is approaching the end of its lifespan. I previously only had one in my utility room, and will now add another to an upper floor near bedrooms.

I actually returned this NightHawk and got 3 of the round voice alarms for my bedrooms and the Combination alarm & Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Intelligent Wire-Free Interconnect. I'm very happy with the Kidde alarms. They are loud! I love the easy installation and the testing to see how it will work. We tried to interconnect the alarms, but were unable to do so. That would be a nice thing to have. I feel safer now having these alarms installed in my house. Prioi to this I only had the hard-wired alarm in the hallway.
