The Klein Tools, 2 piece, non contact voltage tester and GFCI outlet tester are already coming in handy around the house and the garage. The voltage tester lets you know if an outlet or a wire is live by both an audible signal and also a visual light. I never liked messing around with changing outlets or changing a light fixture, I was afraid I would get zapped! Even with the breaker turned off I was still uneasy. Now I can sure of the status of the wires by using this voltage tester. As far as the GFCI outlet tester, I am happy to report all my GFCI outlets are installed correctly. The outlet tester also can test the outlets for open ground, open neutral, open hot, hot and ground reversed, hot and neutral reversed, and if the outlet is correct. I am more at ease not using these 2 tools.

This is a great combo. The NVC TESTER is awesome, you can detect low voltage as low as 12V and high voltage, it gives the option to select the voltage and it also identifies the voltage by different color. Use it daily for work, very happy with the product. It also has laser but don't really use it. The GFCI tester is another awesome product, have used it multiple times. Very happy with the combo. Can’t beat the price.

This is the typical high quality we have come to expect from Klein Tools. The laser pointer feature on the non contact voltage tester is even visible in bright rooms and from surprisingly long distances. Also the ncvt reads anywhere from 12-1000 volts safely. You can set it to 70-1000 for testing 3 way switches and the like where you don’t want it to be overly sensitive. The plug in tester is great for reading open ground, reverse polarity etc. it also features a gfci test button. Great set. Highly recommend!

I have a few different brands of non contact voltage detectors, but this one is my favorite. It uses regular AAA batteries which are easier to find. It also has a light that lights up when voltage is detected. Sometimes if the environment is loud, just an audible alert might not work. Since I do a lot of work around my house myself, the gfci tester works great also. It is a good way to make sure I have wired the outlets correctly when they get changed out.

Now I have a high end, voltage tester, but you have to clamp around the wire to test for voltage. Here we have a " non-contact voltage tester" and in the pictures we tested everything for the 240v Service conduit to a light switch and it's as simple as touch and it lights showing voltage. A true time saver for ensuring the power to the outlet, cord - whatever it is your working is off. I have used these wiring detector/testers for some time and as they put it (could not say it better myself): The "RT210 detects the most common wiring problems in standard and GFCI receptacles Works on GFI outlets and confirms operation of the ground fault protective device Conditions the RT210 indicates: open ground, reverse polarity, open hot, open neutral, hot/ground reversed". Just plug it in and the lights tell the story - testing the GFCI is just push the test button Don't really use the laser's much, but it has a good range and easily seen across the room. These are the details listed for the detector; 'Dual-range testing: select 12-Volt - 1000-Volt AC which is perfect for low voltage systems such as doorbells, environmental control or irrigation systems or select 70-Volt - 1000-Volt AC which is perfect for detecting systems such as electrical mains supply, NCVT-5 delivers simultaneous visual and audible voltage indicators when AC voltage is detected Audible voltage indicator beeps at a greater frequency the higher the voltage that is sensed or the closer to the voltage source Bright integrated laser pointer for identifying objects of interest at distance on the jobsite.' There you have it, great value for you buck, easy to use, and from a trusted name to boot.

This non-contact voltage tester indicates if there is a presence of a voltage between 12V to 1000V. This tool is only for AC current. This can be easier to use than a probe to find live voltage wire. It does not measure the voltage. It includes a laser pointer but I would have preferred a flash light. It is well packaged with a bonus GFCI receptacle tester; the GFCI tester covers almost all testing that I can realize for a GFCI circuit. situation. It comes with 2 batteries already installed. There is no off button and goes off on its own.

This 2 piece tester set from Klein Tools is perfect for the home do it yourselfer or the Professional electrician. The set comes with a non-contact voltage tester with a built in Laser pointer, and a GFCI Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlet tester. The non-contact voltage tester works very well. It is a must for home owners doing their own electrical work. A red LED lights up as well as an audible warning beep (beep can be turned off for silent operation) when you place the tip on a wire, plug, or outlet that is electrically live (hot). It detects 12 volts AC to 1000 volts AC voltage in two modes from 12v to 1000v AC, and 70v to 1000v AC. In mode 1, 70 - 1000v there is no tip illumination or sound when under 70 volts, but the tip turns Red and has a continuous beep when it detects over 70 volts AC. In mode 2, 12 – 1000v the tip will turn Blue and blink when an AC voltage is detected under 70 volts, and it will have a pulsing beep sound. If it detects over 70 volts the tip turns Red and has a continuous beep just like Mode 1. It is recommended that you run the tester in Mode 1 if you are not working with voltages under 70 volts. This unit WILL NOT DETECT DC (Direct Current) voltage. It has a really nice added feature of a built in laser pointer. Great for pointing to a wire or outlet from the ground to someone up on a ladder. It is also great for playing with the dog! It has a convenient pocket clip. It turns off automatically after 4 minutes of not being used to help save batteries. It runs on 2 AAA batteries (included and already installed) that are easily replaceable. The GFCI outlet tester works great. You simply plug it in to an outlet and it shows you if the outlet is wired correctly or not. You compare the lights to the chart to see if it is correct, or exactly what is wired incorrectly. It has a button to produce a ground fault to test a GFCI outlet to see if it trips correctly when pressed. If your work requires city building inspections, it is essential to test every outlet before the inspector shows up. This tester requires no batteries. The customer service phone number in my kit was incorrect. It showed a 1-877 number when it should have been an 800 number, 1-800-553-4676. It is made in China. Packaging is in English, Spanish, and French.

This is a tool I wish I had a long time ago. As a homeowner who also has investment property. I’m routinely needing to try to diagnose some electrical problem. Oftentimes, the wire is in the wall. With this tool, I now have a good way to trace where the wire runs. It has a low voltage setting for detecting things like doorbells and a higher range for detecting main circuits. It comes with a laser pointer and has indicator lights and a tone to let you know when you are close to a live wire. It includes 2-AAA batteries in a watertight compartment. It also includes a laser pointer. The GFCI tester tool is great and works. My house is 60 years old and has been added onto and remodeled. With this tool, I found out which circuits are wired correctly, and which are not. It has a light indicator to let you know what situation the outlet has and a handy little chart on the tool do inform you of the wiring. Overall, I’m happy with this tool set. I think it would be a good investment for any DIY or professional electrician.

KLEIN TOOLS 2-Piece Non-Contact Voltage Tester with Laser Pointer and GFCI Outlet Tester…. This 2 pc non contact voltage tester has a lot of features. I like the Dual range testing feature #1 12volts to1000 volt AC low voltage (example a door bell) and #2 70 to 1000- Volt AC for detecting electrical mains supply, the NCVT-5 tool gives you both audible and visual voltage indicators when AC voltage is detected. The RT210 is an easy way to test a standard or GFCI outlet operations. It has a very bright laser pointer. These are two great tools to have and are great time savers. This is a great product from Klein Tools.

Klein Tools has made an easy to use tool with this dual range non-contact voltage tester with laser pointer. It requires two AAA batteries (included), which I prefer over the CR-watch style, button batteries, has a handy pocket clip, and a laser pointer. The laser pointer has good distance under the right lighting conditions and I can see how it would be useful on a job site. Dual modes are handy and I predominantly use Mode 2 since it has a wider range. The tones/alerts are easy to understand, and so far I’ve used it to test for voltage in Romex, find the load wire in a switch box, and determine the hot and neutral sides of an outlet among other things. I’ve also used it to crudely trace wires in walls although wall thickness made it difficult at times. My only issues with this are that I found it to be fussy with light switches unless I removed the face plates and it doesn’t detect voltage in metal clad wiring. That could be confusing to some. The tester did work with standard outlets and GFCI outlets in most cases, including those that were Tamper Resistant (TR) and Weather Resistant (WR). A few other features I like are: 1) silent operation, so the tool can be used without beeps; and 2) Auto shutoff after 4 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery. Overall, I like this non-contact voltage tester.

This is an easy to use, non-contact AC voltage tester. Just get it near a power outlet and it will beep & illuminate to let you know the outlet (or wire) is hot. Features I like: - The laser pointer is quite bright, even at long distances. I pointed it at my neighbors garage across the cul-de-sac and it was easy to see (at night). - Two voltage ranges: 12 to 1000 VAC and 70 to 1000VAC. The lower voltage range makes it useful for working with things like low-voltage landscape lights etc. - It has a strong pocket clip. It stays in your pocket even if you bend over to look at a wall socket before testing, or to pickup something on the floor - "O" ring seal for battery compartment (AAA) - Auto-shutoff after 4 minutes to save battery power Key Specs: - It runs on two AAA batteries - Test voltages: 12 to 1000 VAC and 70 to 1000VAC. - Frequency range : 50 to 500 Hz - Laser: 630-670 nm. Less than 5mW Power Great product. Simple to use.

I really like this voltage tester from Klein. I've seen guys use this tester on job sites, but the one I have used for years it a "Contact" type where the leads need to be in contact with the power in order to register a positive reading (light up the test light). This one only needs to be close and the audible beep is a nice addition. It takes normal style batteries size AAA which is important to me - I don't buy anything that takes specialized batteries as I find them to be expensive and I can't keep them in stock.

Power testers have never been this easier to use or as accurate. This tester has two voltage ranges: 12 -1000V indicated by a blue LED and 70-100 V with a red LED. There also is a built in laser pointer activated by a separate button, a convenient way to indicate something to a client. All this is built into a convenient package equipped with a clip for holding in an apron or pocket.

Klein Tools Dual Range Non Contact Voltage Tester. Saving your fingers from getting fried or the shock of your life couldn’t be easier. This compact tester is so easy to use, one push of button you’re in normal setting 70-1000 volts , another push and you’re at 12-1000. It’s simple, safe (no contract with live wires necessary, just get pointer close) and straight forward operation. Runs on two standard AAA batteries so you never have to run outta juice. Bonus. It has very sharp laser pointer and even bette, auto shut in 4 minutes if you forget and stick it in you pocket and walk away. Note the picture, red glow indicates hotwire so you cant miss it.

The Klein Tools Dual Range, 12 to 1000 Volts and 70 to 1000 Volts, Non-Contact Voltage Tester With Laser arrived well packaged in its own blister pak inside a padded envelope. It is a one piece tester with the two AAA batteries included. I selected it because of the name Klein. I like the lower 12 to 1000 volt green LED light that turns red when voltage is detected in that range. The specific feature is the auto shut off in case I forget. I use it to confirm live voltage on many different circuits. The product quality is excellent. It's very easy to use. IIt's working out as planned and I like it a lot.

A very handy item to keep with my electrical tools. With the dual range going down to 12V AC on the lower range setting you can check a lot of other devices, including door bells, ringer buttons, and computer peripherals. It even comes complete with the two AA size batteries, already installed. While the higher range can detect current on most any other devices, from standard outlets to wiring on 220V water heaters. The contact tip is very convenient when you’re working by yourself. You can push it into an outlet and go to the breaker box, if it’s relatively close. When you cut off the right breaker, the beeping will cease and you know that the power is off at your work point. The higher range will flash a red light and the low range will flash a blue light when AC voltage is detected within those ranges. As far as the laser pointer, I’m not so enthusiastic. I would be more comfortable having an LED light that would definitely be helpful when checking outlets or devices in hard to see places. Overall, it performs beautifully, as my other Klein tools.

It is a good tester, especially for its entry point pricing. Easy to use, there are two voltage settings. One is for low voltage; one is for high voltage. It is a non-contact tester meaning all you need do is have it near a wire or outlet to sense voltage. The tip lights up, and there is an audible sensor. Wires do not have to be cut open nor metal exposed for the tester to work. I used it to check the presence of voltage in an outlet; then I traced a wire's run through a wall. The test seems sensitive, almost too sensitive, and it works equally well on low or high voltage. There is a laser pointer which I imagine is for professionals on the job to be able to point at something out of their reach to show a conduit, wire, or something of interest to a peer. It is six inches long and about an inch wide. It has a clip, seems almost pencil-like but of course it is bulkier. It runs on 2 AAA batteries. You may not need to change batteries often as the tester has an auto-shutoff feature after a period of non-use. You can also hold down the NCV button for about five seconds and it will turn the tester off. It seems pretty sturdy, rated for an almost ten foot drop if someone lets it go while on a ladder. The tip lights us clearly when voltage is sensed as being present. I like it. It is a Klein and all my Klein tools have served me well. For what it does, I like it. I recommend it.

Simple and good non-contact voltage tester with a handy laser pointer added. At the end of this review is an overview/demonstration video I made. This voltage tester is easy to use and has a dual range. This tester can detect if an outlet or circuit is live without exposing wiring. Using it is simple, turn it on and set your voltage range then wave the tester around the switch, outlet, junction box, wire etc. I ran into some issues where the 7 to 1000 volt range does not work on every 120v outlet/circuit I tested, the reason for 4 stars. See the video Voltage can be either 12 - 1000 (low voltage wiring) or 70 - 1000 (standard 120v and up). A blue light generally means low voltage and red means high voltage. On the 12 - 1000 setting you can get both blue and red lights. When testing a 120v outlet, I find the blue light can come on when I am just 10" or so away from it, that setting is very sensitive. I have a few 120v outlet in my house that is hard to test with these and only low voltage will test it, so I generally just keep low voltage on. You can of course take the covers off the outlets and test the wire screws but I was surprised by the inconsistency. This will also detect a live wire by holding it near the wire or circuit. I could not get it to work on aluminum armored cable wire (MC lite) though. The laser pointer is great and works at least 50 feet across my house. This is a handy extra for the tester as laser pointers are great during home inspections or when on the job. The voltage tester is durable (rated for a near 10 foot drop) and has a clip for easy carrying in a pocket. It takes two AAA batteries, which the device comes with. Lights warn you when the battery is low and it will shut off automatically with about a minute of inactivity. This voltage tester is made in China.

Easy to use, but very sensitive on the lower range. This little gadget is easy to use, with a simple two-button interface. Once you switch it on, it goes into one of two ranges: 70 VAC to 1000 VAC or 12 VAC to 1000VAC. Pressing the button again switches it to the other range, and holding the button down turns the device off. The instructions say that it will not work if the user is well insulated from the floor, or if the current present is DC current. I found this not to be true. When I place it in the 12 V to 1000V range, it alerts with a beeping tone and blue LED, on almost any electrical device, even my DC powered computer keyboard, a USB cable (5V DC) and my desk phone which is also powered with DC power. When placed into the higher range (70V to 1000V) it alerts on any 120 VAC cables that are on with a continuous tone and red LED. If the cable is off, I get small beeps as I move it rapidly nearby. The other button turns a red laser pointer on while you hold the button down. Holding the power-on button for 2s will turn it on in quiet mode without beeps. It takes two AAA batteries and two alkaline ones are supplied with it, but I would not expect them to last too long. The packaging had a recycling mark (3) on it which is a good sign. The instructions are in (good) English, Spanish and French. Made in China

NCV works good, it’s way more accurate than the NCV tester built into my multimeter. The meter would light up when you get near live wires, but this NCV only Picks up a live wire when you’re within maybe half an inch, much easier to troubleshoot when you have a few wires near eachother and you want to tell which is live and which aren’t. And my cat likes the laser pointer.
