The Klein Tools Cat. No. NCVT1PKIT Non-Contact Voltage and GFCI Receptacle Test Kit contains testers that provide non-contact detection and testing of AC voltage and determination of wiring condition in outlets. It does not contain a circuit breaker finder. The ET310KIT Circuit Breaker Finder Kit or ET310 Digital Circuit Breaker Finder with GFCI Outlet Tester are better options for your purpose.
For full instructions and diagrams showing battery replacement please see the Instructions/Assembly document under Additional Resources from the Manufacturer. To replace the batteries: 1. Press the locking tab inward and remove the battery cap. 2. Remove and recycle the two spent AAA batteries. 3. Install two new AAA batteries, with the positive (+) side facing into the tester. 4. Slide the battery cap onto the tester until it snaps back into place.
The receptacle tester is designed to detect the most common wiring problems in standard receptacles: Open ground, reverse polarity, open hot, open neutral, hot/ground reversed
If the outlet is not GFCI, pushing the button will not perform the GFCI test.
It will trip the breaker
If you do home wiring then this tool is almost "a must have".
