Super Strong Magnet I was very impressed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing might be the strongest magnet I own, I was able to hang it off of the screws in the studs of my walls. This thing is plenty strong enough to feed your wires with the provided attachment. I would recommend this to anyone who feeds wires through a long ways because this has been my new favorite tool. It also comes in a convenient black hard plastic carrying case which is great for the work site. 10/10

This tool set will make snaking wires through wall cavities a lot easier than using a fish-tape, rod, or weighted chain. Comprising a magnetic pendant (with a short length of flexible cable terminated in an eyelet for attaching a wire or drag string) and a magnet provided with a pivoting handle, rollers with non-marking wheels and body notches for making index marks, packaged in a plastic carrying case. The magnets are extremely strong, and, if not stored in the case will be attracted to each other or any other metal that is nearby (removing mechanical watches when using this would be advisable). The two items can be used together for snaking wires or drag string though wall cavities with the smooth tapered shape of the pendant minimizing snagging on installed insulation batts. When used by itself, the magnetic handle can be used to locate studs, and is provided with notches on four sides to allow making index marks when studs are located. Metal studs are easily located by rolling the magnet from left to right, there is no mistaking when you have found the stud as the magnet will “pull-in” and remain in place without holding it. Wood studs may be able to be located if one crosses over the location of the drywall nails or screws, as the magnet is strong enough to be attracted. Using a zig-zag pattern (back and forth and up and down) will give the best results for this. If there is any ferrous metal piping and/or conduit in the wall cavity of interest, one will need to avoid using this in proximity to it as it will be attracted to either. The quality is what you expect from Klein Tools and will no doubt result in a long useful life. If you have a need to snake wires in walls, this is a must have!

I wanted to run some wires behind a reset area originally build for a large TV. I needed to not only go up but also sideways. Since it was in a tight recessed area, I couldn't get an angle for using a fish tape nor a "glo rod" type fish stick. This tool worked perfectly. The magnet was strong enough I could put the 12-2WG NM-B wire. I expected to run a line and have to use the line to put through the wires but this tool did just fine. Another great use is the magnet is really strong and you can attached it to a wire and drop it down in a hard to reach area to grab hardware you dropped.

First, do not go by the Product Overview on the HD website—at least the description as of the date of this review. The description appears to be a combination of a voltage sensor and the wire puller. With that said, this is a great product for chasing wire down a wall, under a carpet, across a ceiling, under a countertop, and more. Both pieces—the Leader Unit and the Handheld Unit—contain very strong rare earth magnets that start attracting each other from a distance 6-inches with a very strong attraction at 4-inches. CAUTION: Make sure that your fingers or anything breakable are not between the magnets when they rapidly come together. Half-inch drywall is no challenge, neither is one-inch of wood or 1.25-inches of quartz or granite countertop—the latter of which is slightly magnetic itself. I found that if you get within two inches of steel with the Leader Unit, the unit will be attracted to the magnetic object. Using it in metal framing or around a steel door frame maybe a challenge. You need to stay near the center of a stud cavity for best results. The plastic-coated magnet on the Leader Unit is 5/8-inch square by 2-5/8-inches long and is designed to pass through a 7/8-inch diameter hole. The attached flexible leader and eye-loop is 7.5-inches long. The Handheld Unit has a Magnetic Base that measures 2-7/16-inches wide by 2-3/4-inches long with four ¾-inch diameter wheels that easily glide along a surface. A pivoting, 6-3/4-inch-long handle is attached to the base. The Leader Unit weighs 3.7 ounces and the Handheld Unit weighs 12.3 ounces. The product is well-made and very easy to use for pulling wires but wait! The strong magnet in the base is attracted to drywall nails and screws which makes it a stud finder as well. The center point of the magnet is marked with a v-shaped indentation on all four sides of the Magnetic Base which indicates where to make a pencil mark. The magnet is strong enough to stay attached to the wall by itself. The leader unit also does a good job finding steel fasteners when it is on its side. The two-piece set comes in a fitted plastic case that measures 11” X 4-3/4’ X 3”. The case and tools weigh 1 pound 11.8 ounces total—lightweight but very powerful. The product in made in Taiwan for Klein Tools de Mexico and imported by Klein Tools, Inc. in Chicago.

The Klein Tools #50611 Magnetic Wire Puller comes complete in its own tough-plastic container measuring 11 1/4 inches long by 4 3/4 inches wide by 3 inches high. The kit is in 2 parts, each part housing an extraordinarily strong rare-earth magnet. The leader part is used to attach to the end of the wire you want to run inside an enclosed wall. This is 10 1/4 inches long. The other part is the hand-held unit that also has a very strong magnet and has 4 wheels to travel on the wall surface so it won’t mar the wall and a 5 inch handle to control it. Overall, it is 8 inches long. To use, drill a hole in the top plate from the attic in the area you want to run the wire from and attach the wire to the leader and push it down the hole. Now go below and use the hand-held to pull the leader down to the place you want the wire to come to. This is a very nice tool to have should you ever run new wire down an existing wall. I strongly recommend this tool. The magnets are very strong and even work through solid wood. Made in Taiwan.

The Klein Magnetic Wire puller shows how in tune Klein is with the needs of the industry. Anybody that has had to pull wires through a finished wall, particularly those containing insulation, knows how frustrating it can be. Nothing short of a horizontal 2X4 is going to stop this wire puller. The magnets are very strong and more than adequate for the job. From 8” away the flexible leader was drawn toward the roller and at 6” it jumped out of my hand. The only part of the roller that contacts the wall are the wheels so potential damage to the visible side of the wall is kept to a minimum. I find nothing works better as a stud-finder than a magnet it this works great for that purpose, especially well on metal studs. It includes a nice, compact storage case to keep everything together and prevent the magnets from sticking to everything in your toolbox. It is worth noting that there is still some magnetism to the outside of the case so I’m conscientious about keeping away anything that might be damaged.

Great Idea! I really wanted to love this tool, as I had an immediate need to fish a HDMI cable inside a finished wall. This promises to eliminate the need for a fish tape, sadly it won't let you toss your trusty fish tape in the donataion pile, but it does work for some uses. I was facing a metal stud wall packed with fiberglass insulation... I had to use my fish tape to snag this out of the wall! The idea is that there are two crazy strong rare earth magnets, one is on the part you attach your wire to and goes inside the wall, the other is on a hand held roller, when you pass one over the other they "stick" and you simply roll the magnet inside the wall to the point you need it. This works great on a hollow wall, and even better on a wood stud wall. But on a metal stud wall, the magnet inside the wall gets stuck on the studs. Throw some tight fiberglass insulation in that mix and you have frustration. It does work, but don't leave your fish tape at home.

This tool is deceptively simple, but - like all Klein tools I have had the pleasure of owning - gets the job done right. Basically, it is two parts - a rare-earth magnet embedded in a rolling 'platform,' and another with an attached pigtail. Drill a ~7/8" hole in the top plate of the wall you're working on, securely attach the wire to be fished on to the pigtail and push it through the hole, then from the inside/finished surface of the wall guide the wire in place using the magnetic rolling "cart." The wheels are grey and non-marking (I imagine you'll want to keep them clean over time), and the magnets are strong enough that you can guide even low-voltage wire through fiberglass insulation. Turns a two-person guessing-game of a job into something one person can handle cleanly.

Klein Tools magnetic wire puller. This has more powerful magnets than I imagined it would, I am pleasantly surprised and happy about that. I have been wanting a wire pulling tool like this for a while because I have to work by myself most of the time and this is like having an extra hand when I need it. The soft wheels have not left any marks on the floor or walls I have used it on, overall very happy with this magnetic wire puller.

I’ve installed many ‘hard wired’ security systems, ran speaker wires, added outlets/switches/lights, ran other wiring etc. within ‘finished’ homes and this is exactly what I needed. I typically push/pull wires with fish rods/sticks, however this allows you the ability to manipulate wires into areas that are inaccessible with rods and can save you some time doing it. My observations: • It comes with a hard plastic carrying case. This works perfect to protect the tools and keep the magnets separated. • OK, let’s talk performance. It works and it works well. You will have zero issues pulling wires through sheetrock. It’s not even risky. I even tested the magnet and leader on solid wood up to a 2”X 8” and it worked without issue. • The eyelet is a good size and strong. • The leader itself has a contoured head so you won’t disrupt insulation if you are pulling on exterior walls. • The handle has a rubber grip that will work with or without gloves. The wheels will not leave marks on your walls. The handle is also adjustable. • Back to magnet. It’s extremely strong (which is what you want) so watch out for pinched fingers. You will only make that mistake once. • You can also use it as a stud finder. There are better stud finder options out there, but this will work as well. It’s a great tool. Pros will appreciate it and DIY’ers will undoubtably feel the same. I fully recommend. This is a high quality tool with no downsides that I can find.

The Klein #50611 Magnetic Wire Puller is a quality and professional tool that every electrician, security technician, and CCTV installer needs for fast and reliable wire pulling installation work behind finished and enclosed areas such as walls and ceilings. This tool makes it a simple way to fish wires and keep them hidden for a secure and neat installation. The straightforward use of strong rare earth magnets allows the installer to attach the wires, to be pulled, to a flexible stainless-steel leader and eyelet which is connected to a strong magnetic block. All you have to do is simply slide the leader assembly with the wires attached into a minimum of 7/8” hole in drywall and gravity will let the leader assembly hang down. At the same time, place the other magnet handheld unit, which has a 180-degree pivot comfort handle, on the outside of the drywall surface to magnetically attract the other magnet leader assembly and feed in the wires and pull the leader assembly down and then fishing the wires to the box opening. If the wall cavity has insulation in it, make sure the leader assembly is between the drywall and insulation so the strong magnet of the outside unit can attract the magnet leader assembly thru the drywall. The outside magnetic drywall unit has non-marring rollers on its base for easy maneuvering on the drywall surface. The outside magnetic drywall unit and magnetic leader assembly both have a bright orange color for high visibility to be seen while using it as well as being seen on the jobsite. The complete unit (magnetic leader assembly and magnetic handheld roller unit) comes in a handy blow molded plastic carry case to keep everything together and ready for immediate use. Let strong magnets do the work for you when fishing wires inside a wall!

Simple to use, simpler than fish tape!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this tool heavily when running our new Cat 6 connections in our facility. We have 15 foot tall walls that are drywall over aluminum studs. No more trying to shove 16 feet of fish tape up or down a wall. Just hook the wire up and use the magnet to pull the wire to your outlet hole!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never seen a tool like this before but wow is it useful. The magnet is extremely strong and can definitely be used almost anywhere. Also the wheels on it make it glide very easy. 10/10 if you are looking for a product like this. It also comes with a good little case to keep it all together in your garage.

              Works great
This product is a game changer, it works great. Strong magnet! But if you have insulation in the wall it may be a little trickier getting wire down the wall, also you have to drill at least a 1in hole to get the guide thru studs. I recommend this for anyone pulling wires thru walls. If you have lost fishtape ends in the wall, youll appreciate that this magnetic puller definetly makes it easier.

Pros: CHEAP! Reasonably well-built, with durable case. Works! But you'll need some experience to recognize tha "gotchas", and take steps to mitigate them. Cons: Never used 1, but, if the price difference is any indication, I'm guessin its more expensive competitiors might have more powerful magnets The bullet will gravitate to ANY metallic object, so metal framing, conduit, and bolts/screws, can present challenges.

This is a very well made tool that comes is a nice plastic case with easy to understand instructions. The wire puller magnet is VERY strong. Title worked like a champ on interior walls but struggled a bit on exterior walls with insulation. It still worked, but it was a much slower process of moving it in different directions to work it through the insulation. I don’t know if the magnet is strong enough to damage the electronics in a cell phone or watch but I made sure to put them a good distance away just in case. The puller did not leave any marks on any of the walls where I used it. It’s a great tool!
