Magnificent electrical testers.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To begin with, I have a lot of confidence in this excellent brand. The design of both testers is very practical and comfortable, it is super easy to use and you do not have to be an expert electrician since with this tester you have the exact data of any outlet and even in the absence of light it has a built-in flashlight to facilitate the job. I really like that it resists up to 1000volt which allows me to use it with confidence. It's great that the voltage tester is waterproof and very comfortable to wear. I think it's great that the kit includes the batteries and a case for storage and can even be carried on the belt. Super recommended.

These two tools are the minimum you want to have before working on an electrical circuit and then afterwards, to verify that the repair/upgrade was done correctly. Both Klein electrical testers are versatile, reliable, rugged, and compact. They are designed with the user’s safety in mind and are certainly the easiest to use. Klein also includes batteries and a nylon storage case that holds both testers to help with keeping my tool bag organized. The Klein non-contact tester allows you to check for AC voltage without having to touch any bare wires; the tip flashes either red or blue (user-selectable lower voltage detection) and the beeper sounds. It also has a built-in flashlight for working in dark environments. The Klein receptacle tester identifies wiring issues on most standard 110-125V/60-Hz, 3-prong outlets and GFCI protected outlets. Simply plug it into the outlet and, with the bright, easy-to-see LED's, verify correct wiring or identify common wiring errors. Additionally, the AC voltage value is shown now on the lighted display. This tool also features a separate GFCI test button that sends a tripping current to a GFCI protected outlet. With this integrated GFCI test showing the time it took the outlet to de-energize on the illuminated display, I can feel secure in knowing that the GFCI protection is functioning correctly.

The KLEIN TOOLS PREMIUM NON-CONTACT VOLTAGE AND GFCI RECEPTACLE ELECTRICAL TEST KIT is a good combo kit that provides two excellent tools when working with electricity. The non-contact voltage meter works well, is compact, and includes a flashlight to help the user see wiring in dark areas such as under cabinets, behind furniture or in cavities. The GFCI receptacle tester has a large LCD screen and two light indicators, one red and one green to indicate whether the GFCI is wired correctly. The LCD screen provides additional information on the wiring of the device. Both items require batteries, which are included. So many products don't come with batteries anymore, it's nice to see when batteries are included. And, a carrying case is included. The two criticisms have to do with the GFCI tester. First, to install or change the batteries, you have to use a phillips-head screwdriver to open the battery compartment, requiring more effort than should be needed to change batteries. Second, I've got an older tester made by a competitor that is smaller, doesn't require batteries, and does pretty much the same thing. Admittedly, it does not have an LCD screen, but the smaller size helps when carrying tools in a work belt onto a jobsite. Otherwise both products are excellent and a good addition to your tool collection.

Very nice duel tool kit. Contains two devices, both well designed. The RT250 GFCI tester works as a plain plug in circuit tester but also includes functions to fully test a GFCI including trip speed. Easy to use. The NCVT-3P non-contact voltage tester works well, detects active circuits up to a few inches away, even will detect active USB cords. Includes a flashlight that can be used alone, or in conjunction with the tester. Both units require 2AA's, and are included in the package. Both are drop tested to 6.6 feet, have high safety ratings and the NCVT is rated at IP67. The NCVT has a pocket clip. The kit comes with a nice pouch with a loop that is large enough for a large tool belt. Overall an impressive pair of functional tools.

These are two invaluable tools for working on electral items. The non-contact votage tester is amazing. It lets you tell if there is live voltage in a wire without having to actually touch the wire. You simply turn it on and hold it near the wire. It will show red if the wire is live. I have seen it happen more than once where you flip the breaker that says it is for the receptical you are going to work on but when you start working, it is still live. This lets you check before you start touching. It has two modes, 70 - 1000 Volts and 12 - 1000 Volts. The second is more sensitive so is prone to pick up extra activity. The first mode is the normal mode to use. It also has a little flashlight tip for those dark areas so you don't need the tool and a flashlight in the same small space. The second tool is a GFCI Receptical Electrical Tester. You simply plug it into the socket and it will tell you if it is wired correctly and let's you test the circuit. This will test GFCI and regular receptical. If there is a fault it display what the fault is. (see the picture below) It comes with a handy carrying case and the batteries. If you change light fixtures, plug-ins, switches, this is a must. I have several other Klein Tools meters and testers and the quality has always been impecable. I would recommend these without hesitation.

This tester's model number is Klein RT250. It's a well design product with many features. Probably the most important features are: 1) once inserted, it shows the voltage of the power outlet; 2) for GFCI outlet, it shows you if there are any wiring faults; 3) it has a green light and red light, from where you can easily tell if there are any issues or everything is alright. There are two free batteries that comes with the package. The only thing I don't like is that the plastic package is hard to open.

This new version of Klein Tools Premium non-contact Voltage and GFCI receptacle electrical test kit works accurately, quickly, and is very easy to read and understand. I like the fact that it is battery operated with a low battery indicator. Red and Green indicators allow quick indication if wiring has an issue. LED's, with a ten second lit time readout, accurately identifies existing wiring faults. The GFCI tester accurately identifies any GFCI that is not operating with spec and needs replacing. I really like the fact that it feels comfortable in my hands with work gloves on. The flashlight that can be used independently is just a bonus that sometimes saves me the time.

This Klein Tools Premium Non-Contact Voltage and GFCI Receptacle Electrical Test Kit has 2 components, and includes a carrying case. The NCVT-3P allows you to test AC circuits without making contact with them. It must be held up to a conductor – it does not sense the voltage behind a household switch or wall plate. The tool also has a nice flashlight. The RT250 plugs into standard 120V grounded wall outlets to test for reverse polarity, open conductors, and other wiring problems. It also tests (displaying the time needed to stop the current flow of) ground fault receptacles. Read the instructions for both tools carefully, as there are many parameters to follow in order to use each tool correctly. Both tools require AAA batteries, which are included. I have trusted the Klein Tools brand for over 43 years, and expect accurate test results from these tools for years to come.

Klein tools are a joy to work with. Well designed and professional build quality. The voltage detector fits that mold. It just works. No false readings. Nice audible and visual signals when voltage is detected. The plug-in outlet checker adds a welcome touch to the “older” models with 3 colored lights that needed to be interpreted. This model has a LCD screen that simply tells you what you need to know (along with the bright visual indicators). Very nice upgrade on a simple, but indispensable device, when working on outlets. Highly recommend.

It is a time saver when you have the proper tools to DIY problems resolution or install a new item. The KLEIN TOOLS PREMIUM NON-CONTACT VOLTAGE AND GFCI RECEPTACLE ELECTRICAL TEST KIT is just such a set of tools. I can easily test old electrical plugs so that I can determine if it is a job I can DIY or if I need the services of a certified electrician. I highly recommend Klein Tools as they have provided me with reliable use for a number of years and this package for me was to replace a setup that I had loaned out to my son who lives 200 miles away for his DIY project.

Yes to Klein. Klein Tools Premium Electrical Test Kit includes an electrical receptacle tester with LCD and a non-contact voltage tester with flashlight. The electrical receptacle tester checks the wiring conditions at an electrical outlet and inspects GFCI devices. The LCD displays the voltage, identifies the wiring fault, and the time required to trip a GFCI device. It This device is designated for use with 3-wire 120-Volt electrical outlets used in North America. The non-contact voltage tester has a flashlight for dim or power outage conditions and has two ranges of detection from 12-Volt to 1000-Volt AC or 70-Volt to 1000-Volt AC which will take care of a wide variety of low-voltage or standard voltage applications. The handy flashlight can be used independent of, or with the voltage detection function. This has a two-year warranty for either residential or commercial use. I put a Phillips screwdriver bit in the carry case because I do not leave cells in equipment so there is no chance of damage from leakage.

Great little outlet tester that provides 2 sets of data points of information in 1 tool, Voltage and wiring correctness of a 120VAC circuit. Large display for clear notification of the outlet status. I will take a star away from my rating due to the more expensive pricing and the fact that it requires 2x AAA batteries to run. For $5 less you can get a simple Klein voltage tester and outlet tester that allow for more flexibility of usage giving you better Voltage data outputs on the voltage tester tool. This is a good tool and I would recommend it however I would explore other Klein electrical tools prior to buying this one.

I previously owned a simplified Klein Tools GFCI tester. It just had three LEDs that would light up when plugged in a receptacle. The LED configuration that lit up would match one of the configurations on the tester itself to let the user know if the receptacle is wired properly. When I switch to a digital tester, I was curious to see just how different it would be. One thing I like that some companies, like Klein Tools, does is provide you with batteries needed to operate the digital GFCI tester. After removing the digital GFCI tester from the packaging, I noticed some white residue near the battery cover. I took a picture of the amount of white residue present when I removed the battery cover. This would have made more sense if the batteries were already installed. However, the user has to install the included batteries. I had really no idea if the digital GFCI tester was going to work. I was able to remove the majority of the residue prior to installing the batteries. Luckily, the tester turned on and haven't had any issues thus far. Something I like about this tester is that it really isn't that much larger in size than my old GFCI tester but provides the user with so much more functions. The backlit display is plenty bright. I also like that the display will show the voltage of the receptacle. The biggest difference between the old GFCI tester and new digital GFCI tester is the actual way to test a GFCI receptacle. The old GFCI tester had a red button that the user would push to test the receptacle's GFCI function. The new digital GFCI tester also has a button that the user pushes. Then the screen will show different readings and if the receptacle's GFCI function is working properly, the display will show all zeros. I did a quick video to show what this test looks like. I am very happy with this product and would have given 5 stars if not for the unknown white residue in the battery compartment. I doubt this is common and I would buy again if needed down the road.

This is a tester to check proper wiring of a 3 wire (hot/neutral/ground) 110 volt receptacle. Instead of only using LED light patterns to indicate proper or improper wiring of the plug, this tester has a screen display combined with a Green and a Red LED to give a clear status of the wiring. Green LED lit: wiring is fine. Red LED lit: there is a problem with the receptacle wiring and you need to read what is says on the display. The Tester has some very desirable features beyond that of a typical receptacle tester. 1) It has two AAA batteries that give it the ability to continue displaying the last test results for 10 seconds when it is unplugged. If you cannot conveniently see the display, you can unplug the tester and look at the screen. 2) The tester includes an AC voltmeter that appears on the display. Knowing the voltage is very helpful in diagnosing problems in a circuit. 3) This tester has a GFCI test feature which is common on many testers. This unit goes far beyond that test and displays the number of seconds from pushing the button to having the circuit trip. This is measured in hundredths of a second. My testing good GFCI receptacle tripped in 0.01 seconds. If a GFCI trips in about o.1 seconds or less, it is doing fine. If it takes a longer time to trip, the GFCI breaker needs to be replaced. This is an outstanding measurement for you to have. 4) This tester can detect when there is only a “hot” wire connected. My other testers need a Positive (Hot) wire and either ground or neutral connections to work. The tester uses batteries. With dead batteries, the tester does not work at all. If this was your only tool at a work site, it could be costly if the batteries were flat. One electrician said he was disappointed with it having batteries. Very Nice Tool…

Professionally designed GFCI receptacle tester takes the guess work out, and makes troubleshooting electrical wiring issues less time consuming. The LCD readout tells you the wiring fault for each scenario, and the red/green LED lights are added indicators. The "Test" button allows you to trip the GFCI circuit to double check the wiring has been correctly installed. This unit is compact and easy to hold and insert, and the batteries are even included in the package.

Klein Delivers a Solid GFCI LCD Tester. This GFCI LED Tester is now in my Electrician's tool bag and is used on every opportune time I have. I like seeing immediate feedback (voltage and correct or incorrect wiring issues). Having this tester display the statistics for about 10 seconds after the tester is removed is also a plus to have. This Tester also has a very good grip to it for insertion and removal...Kudos Klein!

I really wasn't looking for a GFCI tester but because of Klein Tools reputation I thought it was about time to have one. I should have bought this years ago because I didn't realize all of the information you can get from this device. It clearly shows current voltage and any fault codes with its large backlight LCD screen. Works even when there is nowhere for electricity to go (open Ground, open Neutral). Construction feels durable. It makes reading receptacles even when the tool is upside easy and holds the reading for 10 seconds. Two AAA batteries are included. I like that you can operate it with a pair of gloves on. It is built well and just what you would expect from Klein Tools.

This is an improvement over previous circuit testers I have used. With this tester you can check to see if outlets are wired correctly, the LCD readout displays common wiring problems. It also shows what the voltage is at the outlet. When testing GFCI receptacles it also shows how long it took the breaker to trip. The device does require two AA batteries which are included and it has a low battery indicator. You must turn the tester on before using and you also have to reset it after each test, this is done by pressing the power button. The LCD display is easy to read and it stays on long enough for you to read it after unplugging it, which is helpful when outlets are installed with the ground to the top. I just wish it came with a case or a belt clip. This is a great addition to my tool box. If you do any electrical work especially with GFCI receptacles this is a must have tool.

After being at my son's home inspection. It got me to thinking if my home's wiring was correctly wired. Well with my Klein GFCI tester now I know. It was so easy. Installed the two batteries which were included. So easy to use with a bright LCD screen and a green light and red light. The lights tell you if it's a go or no go on your GFCI test. And also test the voltage at that plug. And with a ten second display so you can read the info. For me the Klein GFCI tester gave me peace of mind. And now I know all my GFCI's are good to go!

Three words for the Klein Tools Receptacle tester with LCD, Quick, Easy and Accurate. Quickly checks your outlet for correct wiring. It's very Easy to use. The large LCD screen is very easy to read, and gives clear and concise information; even for those with less than perfect eyesight. The red and green indicator lights are bright and can easily be seen. It's a stand alone, (doesn't require power from the outlet like some other testers) operates on 2 AAA batteries and they are included. We tested it in different conditions and it gave us very accurate information. Another plus is the battery indicator; you will never have to worry about battery strength. It also holds your readings on the screen for 10 seconds even after you unplug it. We are very impressed with this tester. I only expect the best from Klein Tools and again they delivered.

Great product. I use this everyday as a home inspector. Besides the standard light indicator and GFCI tester, it also shows what the defect is (open ground/reversed wires), and the voltage. Very handy for report writing, as the client can see the read out on the screen. The voltage indicator shows voltage drop across the home. Fits in your palm. Highly recommended!

    Stick to hand tools Klein
This tester has a few nice features, but uses the same unintelligent style circuit as the old neon/resistor type testers. Just as in those, the tester displays HOT/GND REV when in reality it's an open, loaded neutral. Having a hot and ground reversed would be really rare in most instances, but an open neutral with something plugged in downstream is much more likely.
