High pitch sound and other random noises, bright light, makes room hotter
Good things first: quiet (when there aren’t random noises, it’s tall so it reaches more places, it blows out the same amount of air as my old Lasko on its highest setting. The bad stuff is quite bad that it’s almost not worth the money: once in a while, it emits a high pitch sound or other random noises, the light is so bright it’s like it’s out to attack you, leaving this on all night actually made the room hotter by 2 degrees so I don’t know what’s up with that, and the lowest setting is pretty useless UNLESS you just want it for some kind of gentle white noise instead of dead silence. I went to go get this exchanged, because I want to keep it. However, after reading other people’s reviews, I already know that the high pitch and random noise is probably going to happen with the new exchanged fan again soon. I may just leave it in the office instead of using it for sleep. Which is a shame, because this thing was $100. I thought that bcs my Lasko lasted me for 10 years and still running (just got squeaky), that Lasko was a trusted brand to buy from with trusted quality. So I am highly disappointed with this product. Although I am going to keep it… but I keep asking myself why. Sigh…. I think it’s because it looks good in our house; we get a lot of guests. But heck, that high pitch noise and other random noises definitely does not work for sleeping. Plus that BRIGHT large light…. Omg, someone at Lasko please take this back to the drawing board and redesign the whole dang thing. I had to use 6 layers of painting tape to cover the light enough to sleep, but still peak through enough for me to see. One day I will buy something that looks better to lessen the brightness, but for now, this is how I had to cover it up. Smh.

Attractive, effective, easy to assemble, has a hum
Easy to assemble but at 48” difficult for a short person. Attractive design! But emits an annoying soft, low hum that is actually annoying. Price seems fair.

Good Daytime Fan
Great daytime fan. It’s quiet just like the description says. Good air pressure just like the description says. What the description doesn’t tell you is that the light on the fan is the most obnoxious thing when you’re trying to sleep. I am currently trying to sleep and feel like the number four is going to murder me, because a large bright number four, mind you with two pieces of duck tape over it, is currently at the foot of my bed keeping me awake.

This fan is worth the price. It has 4 speed control settings. Plus, it oscillates (rotates left and right). I have not tried the timer at this time, but I'm sure it works well. My happy place is in bed and the remote control is great. I'm sure I forgot something, but I have no complaints.

The Lasko Brand, Xtra Air 48 in. Oscillating Tower Fan with Nighttime Setting and Remote Control ...
The Lasko Brand, Xtra Air 48 in. Oscillating Tower Fan with Nighttime Setting and Remote Control is very easy to assemble and moves a lot of air, even on the low setting due to its tall height and long internal fan blades. The fan oscillates about 30-degrees, sufficient for our bedroom, while some rooms might benefit from a wider angle of oscillation. The fan blades themselves are very quiet. The fan motor however seems to emanate a hum similar to 60 hertz AC current. The hum its self is masked when the fan is operated on high speed, however, on the lowest speed, the hum is quite prevalent since the fan blades themselves make no sound, nor the rushing air from the fan housing. There is just this noticeable hum we did not hear from our 8-year-old tower fan before it stopped working. The night setting that also dims the display 50-percent, makes no sense to us. In order to benefit from a dimmed display at night, not illuminating our bedroom, the fan starts on high speed and over several hours reduces to low speed. Given the robust airflow on low speed, we would prefer using and staring the fan on low speed at night. The motor hum, the bright display in the bedroom is just a distraction to us despite the robust air flow from this tall tower fan. I think this fan makes a better livening area fan than a bedroom fan. I rate the fan down on it bright display at night and motor hum on low speed and up for its robust air flow, even on low speed.

This is a really tall fan but it does not take up a lot of space and it is light enough to move from room to room (13 lbs) and is very nice looking. I got this fan as I have a sunroom that is three walls of windows and even with the drapes drawn in the summer it gets quite warm out there. I sort of expected the fan to blow a little stronger on the high setting (#4) but I think it will still do a good job. The unit was very easy to assemble and I like the controls being at eye level and the remote is always a nice feature since there is a slot at the back of the unit to hang the remote and not have to go seaching for it and it came with a really nice long cord - no need for any extension cords. I'm not quite sure I'm understanding their special blue safety plug that is on the unit. They state on their warning label, "If the fan does not function it may be due to the safety device incorporated in this plug". So, like, what do you do then? Return the unit to Lasko for repair or replacement? It does have a one year warranty and this is an item for me that will only be used during the warmer weather, not year round. In the winter weather I have one of their heaters that does a very good job of keeping the sunroom warm.

I really like this space-saver fan. It has a base footprint of 12.5 inches in diameter, so it can be easily placed in a corner or some other small space. It stands 48 inches tall. It has four speeds (1: Low, 2: Med, 3: Med-Plus, 4: High). It is simple to operate.
FEATURES I LIKE:
- Easy to assemble. Can be easily dis-assembled and stored in its original box for off-season storage.
- Has round plastic base 12.5 inches in diameter
- Hand-held remote with stowing hook & socket so you can “park the remote” when not in use. Remote requires two AAA Batteries --- Batteries NOT included.
- Four speeds (4, 3, 2, 1)
- Quiet; even when on the highest fan speed (4)
- Convenient carrying handle (see pictures).
- Light weight—about 13+ lbs. Easy to move/relocate to other parts of the house
- Moves air at 550 CFM
- Power consumption: 50 Watts
- Simple to operate.
- Easy to understand instructions.
- Easy to understand remote/control panel buttons (remote & front panel control buttons are identical.
- Oscillation setting lets you set the fan to oscillate through an arc of about 45 degrees.
- Countdown timer feature that lets you set the fan to run for 1 to 8 hrs (1 hr increments), then shuts off automatically.
- Nighttime feature that auto-decreases the fan speed each hour (i.e. speed 4,3,2,1) and also dims the control panel lights
- Good value
- Lasko is an American Company (since 1906)
FEATURE SHORTFALLS: I could find any feature shortfalls or issues with this unit.
This is a great unit. It’s quiet, easy to operate, and has a small footprint. The countdown timer, nighttime setting, and oscillation features are all a definite bonus.

This is a nice fan with some really nice features. For starters, the only assembly on arrival is the base and that just snapes together and then twists onto the base. It really couldn't be easier. I teach and will be using it in my classroom as the weather heats up. It is tall enough to not get blocked by desks, students, etc. It has a remote which is very convenient. It has a carrying handle making it easy to move around the room. The fan is well protected so things like fingers, pencils, etc. won't get inside. It has multiple fan speeds and on all but level 4 it was really quiet. Level 4 was not loud but loud enough because it is moving a lot of air. It can be stationary or oscilate with the touch of a button so no levers to pull or twist like my old one. It as a timer so you can set it to run and then shut off. In the house this would be ideal at night when you need the fan when you go to bed but don't need it when the morning air is cool. I am excited to have this fan and am very pleased with it.

There is an oscillation feature to better distribute the air in the room. There is a 12 hour programmable timer which can be programmed in 0.5 hour increments. The convenient remote will allow you to control all the fans settings from anywhere in the room. The unit has an overload protection feature which protects the unit in the event of a blown fuse. The dimensions are 12.5 in. x 12.5 in. x 43 in. This fan is ETL approved for the utmost safety under license 3068797 issued 3/18 and conforms to ULSTD.507.

Unlike an ordinary tower fan, a Vornado tower circulator doesn't just blow air. Instead, it produces true whole-room air circulation using V-Flow Technology, exclusive to Vornado. So rather than feeling the airflow for only seconds at a time with an ordinary fan, you get an even temperature and circulation throughout the room. Typical tower fans oscillate due to a limited range of air movement, so you feel the airflow for only seconds at a time. With V-Flow Circulation, a high volume of air is continuously moving throughout the room, creating quiet, comfortable whole room circulation. The Vornado Tower Circulator features uniquely contoured air outlets that create a wide span of constant airflow, without the need for oscillation. A powerful, yet quiet motor produces higher volume of air movement, 500 CFM, and pushes air up to 100 ft. The 184 Tower Circulator features a sturdy base, an energy saving timer, and 4-speed settings that allow you to tailor the airflow to your needs. The push-button remote control magnetically cradles to the top of the product, so it is always within easy reach. 5 year limited warranty.
This 48 in. Xtra Air tower Fan is built to cover just about every need. The extended grill helps to extend the comfort zone and this is aided by the widespread oscillation. $-speed comfort controls are enabled by the multi-function remote control. This tall and slim tower fan is the perfect addition to every home.
