No, Mexico
That No that would not be a good application for this pump. First, this pump is not designed to be “dead headed”. That is actually a plumbing term for a pump running against a closed valve. Second I doubt it provide enough volume to satisfy your needs and even if it did it would provide essentially no pressure. This pump was designed to pump out water heaters and water beds. There are pumps designed to do what you are trying to do. One would be the Grundfos Scalla. I am not trying to push you to use it, I am only using it as an example. The Scalla pump has an internal pressurized tank. When you squeeze the hose nozzle water would come from that tank. Long before you depleted that water, the fancy magic electronics would turn the pump on and provide you with a seamless flow. Shut down would occur in reverse order and the tank would be recharged. I am pretty certain there are less expensive versions of this type of product made for the RV and Boat industry so you certainly don’t need to buy the Scalla. would not be a good
Pumps are not rated in HP, motors are. The motor on this pump is 1/10 HP. I do not know why it keeps getting changed to .05 but I will endevour to have it fixed again. Sorry and thanks for pointing it out.
Chris, looking to pump Sodium Hydroxide 12% from a 15 gallon tank to 35ft above ground level at no less that 200psi and no more than 4 Gpm. What pump would you recommend ?
I do not think that has a high likelihood of working. Pumps like this are not designed to have positive pressure on the intake, such as pressure boosting pumps like the Grundfos Scala.
The temperature range for this pump is 40 to 140 deg F.
This pump is not designed to move liquids containing oil or any other solvent for that matter. The solvent will destroy the impeller. I can say this from experience as I once used one to pump out an oil tank. It was the wrong thing to do and it destroyed the impeller. But in retrospect it did work. But I bet if i had looked I could have found a pump that was better suited for the job.
This pump is not designed to move salty or brackish water. There are pumps that are. We are based in New England and i source them for lobster distributors. They are nice but very expensive. So depending on how often you are going to use it, it may prove more cost effective to use one like this, and flush it after every use. Yes it will eventually corrode but it still may be a better solution than buying a pump containing no ferrous metals designed for that application.
I am very sorry as this question is marked from a month ago and it just go to me. You can use this pump with soapy water that will not be a problem. Howeve I wonder why you would be using this pump in that applicaion as there are pumps designed to work with washing machines. You are welcome to give me a call and we can discuss your applicaion. No. That's a bad idea.
