It’s like a memory foam. I don’t notice any cooling affects. I do like a topper for softening. I also used my existing box spring.

Great Matress!
I bought two of these mattresses for everyday use a year ago. They are great for the money! Both expanded as advertised. Make sure you have the correct foundation for this type of mattress (get rid of the old box spring and get a platform bed). I didn't have the experiences the bad reviews described at all... I followed the instructions. I contacted the company to register the warranty. The interaction was pleasant.

Read the reviews carefully, they’re right.
I initially saw this bed had almost five stars so I purchased ti without reading the reviews but they’re correct.
Cons
1. After 48 hours, it doesn’t ever reach 10in as advertised.
2. The “inflation” is uneven. The middle of the bed is lower than the other two sides and one side is more full than the other.
Pros
1. Bed was pretty easy to set up and seems to be of good quality so far.
2. If you’re into a firm bed, the mattress is quite firm as advertised.

Not Expanded to 10 inches - Beware
I bought this bed last December and it's been two months now and still it didn't expand to 10 inches as advertised. In some places, it has expanded just above 7 inches and in most places, they expanded to 8 inches, and in one place it expanded to 9 inches.
It is shorter in all the ends and height differs in one end than the other. It also bends downward in all four corners. Not sure whether this is a damaged mattress.
I'm disappointed with this purchase and would not recommend it.

Bought this mattress based on pretty good reviews from friends...
Bought this mattress based on pretty good reviews from friends But unfortunately my mattress did not fully expand. Waited for a week But no luck still same. Very uneven on the sides and the mattress cover is very loose which indicates that it still has room to expand. Seems like a rare defective piece. Hoping support could help in replacing it.

You can also walk or crawl along the mattress for a few minutes at a time throughout the day, as that can help break up the air pockets in the foam. Mattress did not fully expand
Waited 5 days and the mattress still has not expanded to the full 10” height. It is shorter one end than the other. It also bends downward in the corners.

Waited over 48 hours and the mattress still looks the way it did 2 hours after unboxing. It did not expand properly. It remained deformed, uneven, and bent in one corner. I have not had issues with other memory foam brands. I have sent Lucid an email and hope they will step in to resolve this soon.
