Will this work with a sprinkler system?

Asked by SunnyinSeattle January 5, 2021

It is not recommended. They would prefer that you install it after your water line T's off for your irrigation...but yes, it has a setting that lets you tell it that you have an irrigation system.

Will it set off an alarm anytime you use water like wash hands, run dish washer, wash clothes, etc??

Asked by JR January 5, 2021

Hello, The system learns your regular water usage from your fixtures and appliances so you will not be alerted for normal activities. The app also allows you to customize your alert settings based on your own thresholds. Contact support@meetflo.com if you have additional questions. Thanks!

Asked by GregT September 26, 2020

I as told by the plumber that the 3/4 and 1 in valves are the same but with different adapters. However, this valve measures water flow, accumulates a data file over several weeks and then assesses when flows are more than some mathematical algorithms feel safe. I would not use a valve designed to measure water flow through a 3/4 inch inlet to manage water flowing thru a 1 inch inlet. Not sure, but the algorithms may not be applicable to both.

Can I install this on a water line that feeds 10 mobile homes with varying water use?

Asked by Richard September 15, 2020

Hello, We recommend that each unit has its own dedicated Smart Water Shutoff. Please contact us at support@meetflo.com if you have additional questions. Thanks!

Asked by Ben June 3, 2020

In my opinion, SharkBite fittings should be okay.

I heard there will be no warranty for this product if it's self-installed. Is it true?

Asked by Shawn May 30, 2020

Hi Shawn, The Smart Water sShutoff has a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects / issues. We do recommend that the system is installed by a licensed installer but your warranty is not void if you install the system on your own. Please contact us at support@meetflo.com if you have additional questions. Thanks.

Asked by ACuriousBuyer May 25, 2020

Hello, Yes you can leave your main meter in the closed position if that is your preference. If you do this, you should also set the Smart Water Shutoff in the closed position as well. Most of our customers leave the main water supply open and set the Smart Water Shutoff in the closed position. This way if you ever need to turn the water on remotely, you do not have to open the main meter as well. Please contact support@meetflo.com if you have additional questions. Thanks

Easy to install!
For years I waited for someone to design ways to shut water off in a house,a friend told me about it and i quickly bought it and will be buying another one for apt.next door !

Works as described, simple installation. Helps in monitoring water usage and leak prevention.
It's just ok
There are some advantages but don't count on it to be your cure all for leaks. I had a leak that was 15 gallons per hour behind a wall that the system didn't shut down but it only told me I had a small leak. It didn't detect any flow from the leak on the system. Very disappointed.

Buyer, be careful!!
We bought this product after having leaks from our hot water hoses twice in five months. My plumber installed it and said it was easy to install with what came in the box. The learning phase lasted barely seven days. Ideally, the learning phase would last two weeks in my opinion. I get alerts when I do more than one load of laundry a day. I’ve gotten alerts for taking a 10 minute shower. Want to know how fun it is to find out you’ve gotten a message that your water is getting shut off and you’re completely soaped up?! And now, this morning, my garage has a nice amount of water from my outside faucet that has been slowly and steadily dripping all night, but did I get an alert? No. So, in reality, this $550 device will detect what it perceives as huge leaks, but won’t send alerts for the small. Honestly, I’m feeling a tiny bit deceived. At least the water in my garage didn’t ruin anything in my house.

You need to be familiar with plumbing to install this product. The wireless pairing was easy if you have a smartphone because you need to scan a barcode on the unit PRIOR to install. You need an electrical outlet near the unit. There are some Pros and Cons: PRO: Detects water pressure, which is invaluable information. CON: Cannot do anything about it. Since mine was far too high I had to install a pressure reduction valve to protect my home. PRO: Every night it closes the valve and tests the line for leaks. CON: If anyone uses the bathroom or turns on water turning the test, it detects it as a leak. PRO: It watches for excessive water usage and will notify you. CON: It takes 5 minutes to notify you and the 15 minutes before it shuts off the water. That is a LOT of water damage if it is a real leak. CON: It does not have leak detectors. It just looks at how long the water is running. You can get a third party leak detector and manually turn off the water if it tells you there is a leak or automate it. CON: Cannot tell legit water use from good. I suggested a sensor on the house drain to detect if the water is going down the drain signaling legit usage, but nothing has been developed. PRO: Has a nice app to monitor use and notify you of problems. CON: Several of the features require a $5 month app fee to see the amount of water used by appliances. Mine has been on for 3 weeks and no data has appeared because it says the system is "Learning" our water use. CON: We have had the unit shut off the water during showers of several family member in a row. It is not fun to be soaped up and the water shuts off. We did not hear the notification that the water was going to be shut off because we were in the shower. I give the product a reserved recommendation because the problems can be fixed with add on products.

Hello WylieCoyote,
Thank you for your feedback. Although the Flo system does not have a pressure reducer we are glad that the data was able to inform you to take action when it detected the pressure was way too high. We have found this to be the case in many homes that do not have a PRV. Our team is always working on improvements and will offer more products in the near future. If you need assistance, please contact us at support@meetflo.com if you need any assistance.

I bought this when it was a Buy of the Day as I have an old home built in the 1800's and don't trust the plumbing considering it's age. Was pretty easy to install. I went with Soldering fittings. But you can also use SharkBite or Compression fittings. After installation connecting to the Wifi with the App was quick. But it doesn't actually begin the process of monitoring and protecting the plumbing until 7-10 days after installing as it does a learning process to determine what you normal water usage is in an average week. The device itself has

Great idea!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m very excited to start using this leak detection device. It’s looks like a very advanced device. I’m glad I’ll be notified on my phone if I get a leak while I’m away from the house. That way I’ll be able to take care of the problem right away instead of waiting a possible 20 hours while my house floods.
