for the price it is okay, wont hold a tremendous load like the $100 ones but for ten bucks you cant lose, for garage door cables I wouldn't try anything commercial, residential only or it will slip.

Works OK for the price
I purchased this for pulling fence wire for an archery range -- twisted pair of 12 gauge steel (barbless wire). It works ok -- grabs the wire and pulls it, and the teeth so far have continued to grab and hold. The only issue is that the jaws don't open wide enough to get the wire in very easily. It takes me about 5 minutes to get the wire in every time. Once in, everything works great and it releases easily. I think if I were doing a lot more of this, I would buy a different grip, but for about $1/wire, this wasn't bad.

Great wire fencing accessory!
This little unit has paid for it's self many times over. It is the best tool to use for stretching barbed wire fencing you can imagine. It has saved me more pairs of gloves and other clothing by keeping the wire away from me while I'm laying fence. I have ran over 10 miles of 3-wire fence since I purchased this grip early last year and, while a bit rusty from being in a wet saddle bag a time or two, it still works as good as it did when it was new.
