A:  Yes mine came with batteries that have charge indicator.

A:  lay it flat with "Makita" showing. Lift each black catch on the front side up and they will release - then pull out from top. These cases are excellent and definitely waterproof.

A:  It works like a suit case. The two black latches on top (left and right) in the picture. This is the best tool for the money. I owned 1 set which purchases in 2007 and another set couple of years which was on sale. The 2007 set still operates like new after building my new house and decks and many other projects.

It is compatible with Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries with a Star symbol. Please see the Makita LXT BL1820B, BL1830B, BL1840B, BL1850B, and BL1860B batteries.
