Landscapers and contractors are demanding more cordless alternatives to gas-powered outdoor power equipment. Makita is meeting demand with an expanding line of cordless OPE, including the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Brushless 14 in. Chain Saw (model XCU07Z, tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). With zero emissions, lower noise and considerably less maintenance, the XCU07Z is a welcome solution for cutting and trimming applications. Its powered by two 18-Volt LXT batteries (sold separately) for 36-Volt power and run time, but without leaving the strongly-preferred 18-Volt battery platform. And with the efficient Makita outer rotor Brushless Motor with direct drive system, users get high power efficiency that is equivalent to a gas chain saw. The XCU07Z has a 14 in. guide bar and the Makita-built motor with variable speed delivers 0 FPM to 3,940 FPM for increased cutting speed. It has zero emissions and reduced maintenance: there's no engine oil to change, no spark plug to replace and no air filter or muffler to clean. And there's no need to drain the fuel for storage. Simply pick it up, load two 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion batteries (sold separately) and the saw is ready to use. Convenience features include captured bar nuts, lateral tensioning, a front hand guard engineered to actuate chain brake when engaged and a built-on lock lever to help prevent the chain from accidentally engaging.
A:Â Thank you for your question on the XCU07PT chainsaw. You can purchase a bar and chain separately. Part number E-00094 for the bar and part number e-00240 for the chain.

Answer This Question
A:Â Thank you for your question. The key difference between the XCU07PT and the XCU03PT is in the sprocket cover. The XCU07PT uses a tool to remove the cover and tension the chain, while the XCU03PT uses our toolless system.

Battery Life Heavy use
I've had the saw for 3 weeks now. The saw is well built, safe, a little heavy, balanced and seems a good choice for light work. The oiler needed adjustment far increased from the setting as delivered. Today I sawed thru a 12" aspen log 6 times. The batteries are new 5aH and fully charged. I needed a special cut out of the same aspen 38" long split lengthwise for a garden border. It did the cut but exhausted the batteries to near 0.
I think I need a gas chainsaw.
