Leaks does not work
The product leaks all over the place, spews water from both female ends (shallow threading), and in the middle joint no matter how tight you get it. Fiddled with it thinking it was me. It’s the product. Melnor product name going down the tube with this item until they fix it. Someone at the Chinese factory deviated from the specs. They are all defective.

Backflush Water Heater
It works. Used it to backflush a clogged water heater drain. When you get this carefully remove the plastic washers. You will see the direction water flow only works in one direction. Otherwise you are going to have leaks galore. Mark the direction of flow with a permanent marker. Re-insert the washers. If you are backflushing a water heater this item should be on your spigot, not the water heater drain. Do not overtighten. No leaks.

This end towards water flow
This adapter work just great, no leaks. If you are having problems with it leaking. When you look inside you can see one end fixs over the other end connect that end towards where the water flow from. Replace the washer with wider washers.

same defect found as other reviewers
leaks from center of the adapter and there's nothing you can do to fix it. It will also leak from the ends no matter how snug you tighten it.

Was exactly what I needed. I was making a tool to use winterizing my sprinkler system. I required an air nozzle and the double female adapter. Everything fit together nicely and for around $7.00 I was able to save about $45.00 which is the average cost to call someone out to do the job.

I got this to connect a hose with the male end to a dog bowl with a male connector and it started leaking in the middle as soon as I turned on the water. Worthless.
