Awesome! True ‘authentic aged appearance.’ Beautiful- we certainly ‘love,’ this tile, ‘marks of well-loved, worn, century-old’ rustic charm exude.Tile easily everything stated. Exceeds expectations. We can’t decide how to use it. Have created several little beautiful outdoor places tile adds soothing calming detail. We especially like the brick red grout lines and edges- eye-catching and yet, blends well- adding nearly a month of pleasing little details to our old well worn weathered patio and granite steps. Kings Etna Tile adds charming beauty. We may eventually get to actually installing as tile if we exhaust utilizing the creative beauty. Thinking of laying tiles on thin layer of sand over patio at entrance to our home, picking up before cold weather. Or, purchasing more, installing inside on concrete floor of breezeway, maybe both! The only drawback is the price, it is high but- can a price be put on ‘Imported from Spain old-world European elegance?’ Definitely nice unique beautiful tile for artistic creations. Like- topping old brick stacked for a patio table near every chair.

I got these tiles and laid them for the entry foyer - I learned that you do need to be careful with these tiles as they can break easily prior to installing - I like the tile and it was very easy to install and grout in - it was not difficult to match the color of the pre made tiles - It saved a lot of time in the install. Once they were laid and grouted, the tiles are sturdy and hold up fine. These tiles save some time as you have 9 squares basically already looking grouted - You just ut the larger area. This works like preset small tiles.

Hi! Thank you for sharing your impressions with us! Our Kings Etna White is highly durable and once installed properly will provide a beautiful and long-lasting surface for your space. All tile should be handled with care prior to installation as loose tile is susceptible to chipping from impacts. We stand by the quality of our products and appreciate your feedback!

I installed them in my hall bathroom which is around 35 square feet. (Luckily, the demo was easy because the old tiles weren't installed properly.) Each tile is like 9 small square tiles in one. I used an earth colored grout which seems to blend nicely. The tiles have a wavy pattern on the surface which makes them unique. They also give off a glimmer of silver when the light hits just right. They came well packaged. I purchased four boxes for a 35 square foot job, but only used three of them, so there was no waste at all. Merola tiles are imported from Spain, which I will be bragging about frequently. The company has a huge selection of high quality tiles. When I get ready to redo our master floor and vanity, Merola will be my first choice. Now it's time to install a new threshold, baseboards, door, toilet, vanity -- if it ever gets here, and then we'll address the bathtub.

Merola takes packaging of this 13 1/8" x 13 1/8" Kings Etna Sage tile very seriously. So, there is no damage to the tiles when received. The colors of the Kings Etna Sage are beautiful. The green, brown and grey matches very well providing a great look that will match most decor. It is very easy to install if you have installed tiles in the past. If using for wall tiles you could get away without grouting.

This tile has a very appealing worn gray finish. The differences from piece to piece are really wonderful with all the "worn" spots and "cracks" and "scuffs" that make them look realistically vintage. Its is ceramic not porcelain which I haven't used in a while but fine for most uses. There is a big drawback though. There is an embedded grout line that is a rust color. It is unattractive. I will be cutting the tiles along the grout lines to remove them and make smaller pieces. It isn't a really big deal with a decent wet saw and an affinity for tiling. The pattern on the gray squares will be well worth the extra work.

The tiles from Merola come from Spain. They seem to be of high quality in most respects. They are free of warping for the most part or what slight warp there is doesn’t seem to be enough to affect the overall installation. While the dimension, 13-1/8 square, may seem odd, this is easily explained by considering that in Europe they use the metric system and that dimension is 1/3rd of a meter. They are actually just a slight bit less than 13-1/8inch. The ones I measured seem very consistent. The pre-scoring to make the tiles look like 9 individual tiles is an interesting concept. Since the score lines are 1/16th inch wide, that dictates what the grout lines will be for the entire job so you will need 1/16th inch spacers. In my opinion you should probably use the circular spacers that I show in the picture to insure very uniform grout joints and a level installation. Otherwise, the joints between individual tiles will be very apparent if you deviate by even 1/32nd of an inch. And while 4 inch or 6 inch tiles might be more forgiving, make sure that your floor is nearly flat for these larger tiles. If you are laying these on concrete it will be a good idea to use self-leveling concrete to eliminate deviations from a flat surface and isolate the tiles using Red Guard or an isolating membrane to avoid cracking since these tiles are pre-scored. If you are using these for a backsplash, that really won’t be much of an issue. As far as value, you will have to weigh the time savings of having the look of 9 tiles in just over one square foot while only having to lay one tile and deal with far less spacers and thinset mess. I don’t think you will save that much if a professional tile layer will be doing the installation. That said, these are a bit pricey per square foot but the appearance is pretty close to that of natural stone, which is almost always laid with 1/16th or 1/8th inch grout joints these days. I can’t imagine that you will want to use anything but UNsanded grout because of the width and depth of the scored joints in the tile. The decorative finish on the tile is random and consists of a pleasant amount of variation versus natural stone.

Prepping for a Fall closet project and this leaves just a purchase of some fresh tile cement and grout to start this project. This Merola Etna White tile is both attractive and durable which to me meets all my requirements. Be advised you will need a very stout tile cutter and a grinder to cut pieces otherwise there will be plenty of waste. As usual HomeDepot has packaged this box of tile with sufficient styrofoam packaging so each tile arrives in perfect condition

again, another package of tiles that was packed perfectly. nice bagged foam conforms to the tiles, allowing them ample protection to shipping. the tiles look great, much better in person. i thought a few of the tiles were chipped, but realized that the distressed look is intentional and glazed over top. even some of the "landlocked" tiles have this "cracked edge" look. it's really nice, and adds to the authenticity of the tile.
be warned that these are not jet black tiles. they have a distressed and cracked slate look to them. i love the look, but others may not. good thickness to them tells me they will last a long time.
